7/10

The Good

  • Destructible environments in multiplayer add a dynamic feel to matches
  • Tuning match types based on your desired experience is a nice addition
  • Over-the-top characters and super-evil villains make for a fun story
  • Guns feel great and loadouts and Gunsmith customization are meaningful
  • Changes to how Zombies works make the mode more approachable

The Bad

  • Characters don't really feel distinct enough and campaign missions fail to distinguish them
  • Emphasis on unique characters doesn't mix well with Call of Duty formula
  • Some campaign missions are much weaker than others, especially when pushing out of the usual pop-and-shoot approach
  • Zombies is missing the story-focused puzzle box elements that make the mode great

Anyone playing it for the campaign only. It is a hard pass. The previous game WWII is more memorable and fun as it focus on the war and some good set pieces. The theme of Vanguard is about diversity and underrepresented groups so it is political. Same issue as in BFV. Focuses about their ethnicity rather than the war.

Of course it is Call of duty where story does not matter. Still the mission designs are poor. Each person feels like a commando each with different abilities rather than an average soldier in a war which COD is known for.

Haven't played it yet but isn't this game about the first special forces unit aka commandos coming together?

Yes though it never explained how they got together. The task force was formed by the British intelligence right at the end of the war to stop Hitler’s successor. Just lazy and crap writing as usual with COD stories especially how a black man became its leader without objections in a time of racism and rantings about the woman being the strongest/scariest of the force.

They are tired of the WWII formula. Modern warfare is where the popularity is.

Sad is that activision is still wasting most of its studios talent on COD.

most nahi bhai all of its studios... half of them are working on vanguard and other are working on warzone new changes and maps...
