TRMNTR
don't those screens look better than Halo 3? Definitely! ODST is prettier than Halo 3.
Solitaire
did any of you check out the extra content available now in the (Extended) Live Action ODST trailer as opposed to the content available in it when the trailer was first released? Solitaire
Definitely! ODST is prettier than Halo 3. A little bit better but still has that slightly blocky feel to the graphics as opposed to some modern day shooters...
Keyofx
Honest question: Aren't the old school boxy environments due for a makeover? They've looked the same since the first game!
Solitaire
Honest question: Aren't the old school boxy environments due for a makeover? They've looked the same since the first game! Yeah, verrrrrry boxy. Even though I'm a big fan of the Halo Universe, maybe the future games like Reach will have a reworked graphics engine. Aftrunner
Its not just the graphics, I dont think Bungie have quite nailed down the artistic side of a futuristic city either. It always looks very sterile. Be it Halo 2, 3 or ODST.
Keyofx
I was careful with my first comment because I assumed the boxy/sterile look was what they were going for, and what the fans liked. So you guys have the same problem with it too?
MarketTantrik
Honest question: Aren't the old school boxy environments due for a makeover? They've looked the same since the first game! They are based in the same universe, on the same mythos and continue / expand the same storyline. Shouldn't the environments be coherent? Bulovski
afty - they can't update the environment look because it takes place between Halo 2 and 3 - would be kinda odd
Aftrunner
I am not saying they should have changed the look going from 2 to 3 to ODST. That would have been a jarring effect. I am just saying the art style of the future city isnt as amazing as the alien planet bits that Bungie do. High charity in Halo 2, Ark in Halo 3 have a very cool style about them. The earth cities though tend to look a little bland.
Keyofx
They are based in the same universe, on the same mythos and continue / expand the same storyline. Shouldn't the environments be coherent? That isn't what I meant at all. Of course they should be coherent. I'm pretty sure you can maintain coherence while still graphically updating a game. If not, we'd never have any graphical improvements at all and Maniac Mansion 2 would look the same as
Keyofx
afty - they can't update the environment look because it takes place between Halo 2 and 3 - would be kinda odd Not just ODST, the entire series has been boxy-boxy. The architecture hasn't changed at all from the first game. Again, it could be just an artistic choice, and I'm sure the fans don't mind it too much either.
