There's a store here selling a brand new DFGT for approx INR6000/-. Worth it?

yup.. i have it. gt5p was fully compatible and optimized for dfgt.. that real time adjustment dial works really well in GT imo, it allows you to change the amount of traction control, wheel balance etc WHILE your racing.. you cannot do that with the ds3 or any other ps3 wheel afaik..

Thrustmaster and Ferrari Announce GT Cockpit 430 Scuderia Edition Racing System

4643259833_03afb422e8_o.jpg

Thrustmaster and Ferrari have joined forces to bring us what looks to be the first console racing system to ditch the horrible problem facing most racing wheels - their height. They never work quite right, your always having to find a suitable mount for them, etc. Well, with this new Ferrari Wireless GT Cockpit 430 Scuderia Edition racing system, the problem appears to be solved. The unit weighs 23 lbs and is constructed from rigid metal. Furthermore, the darn thing is wireless!

The Ferrari Wireless GT Cockpit 430 Scuderia Edition from Thrustmaster is due out in June for $239.99 and is usable on both Windows PCs and the PlayStation 3 game console.

Based on reviews, a very good competitor for the DFGT, but since its got no clutch, not ideal for those who want to play manual.

peace

Is there any use of the clutch in GT5? I dint notice any difference in GT5p, used to press the clutch just for the feel .. :P

If you're playing in manual transmission with a stick shift, the clutch adds to the realism. But I think you can turn off the clutch option and even shift without it. It's a matter of personal choice.

from what i've read from my trolling in the gtp forums. clutch allows for greater control in various areas and can improve the timing, no more idea  sam saaar care to elaborate ?

Ya, just like in real cars, pushing the clutch changes the behavior of the car and you can use that to your advantage. It basically puts the car in neutral when its pressed. If you're just using the paddle shifters and no clutch, you lose that advantage.

But using the clutch is also a lot more complicated, especially when you're in a frantic race coz gear shifts have to happen very quickly and with the clutch it takes a little longer than just pulling on the paddles, at least until you get used to it.

W T F is rfactor? :):P
From Wikipedia

rFactor is a computer racing simulator, regarded by many in the motorsport industry as being "the most realistic - both graphically and physics-wise - simulator ever created", designed with the ability to run any type of four-wheeled vehicle from street cars to open wheel cars of any era. rFactor aimed to be the most accurate race simulator of its time. Released in November 2005, rFactor did not have much competition in this market; however it featured many technical advances in tire modeling, complex aerodynamics and a 15 degrees of freedom physics engine.

rFactor was developed by Image Space Incorporated (ISI), which has been developing race simulators since the early 1990s for both commercial and military purposes
