Playing with a wheel is a lot more fun, but you can probably go a lot faster with the controller, at least that was my experience with Forza 2.

whoa really..

cause the only concern i was having was the probability of getting owned easily online due to "advantage" offered by the wheel.

AS this wud be my first Gt and racing sim.. hell a first true racing game to be exact, i am sure it will be fun, it was just the performance part i was worried about.

try gt5p and if you can play fine the no neeed to worry.....

and i dont think there is much of a performance improve in the wheel bcuz i dont have one....

but if you want to play at professional setting in gt5 then you need a wheel :fear:

Playing with a wheel is fun...but a controller guy will be a lot faster, since he gets all those kind of assists which you would have to do manually if playing with a wheel....so unless you are a good race car driver, you wont be going to be as good as a controller guy when using a wheel.

Not just assists. When racing with the wheel, you have to literally fight with the wheel feedback to turn at high speed (which also makes it a lot more fun), while with the controller its as easy as nudging the analog stick. The faster you go, the more resistance you get from the wheel and the harder it is to turn. The fear of losing control at high speed is also a lot more real with the wheel; you can almost feel it happening before it does. Even with the controller, you can notice changes in handling from car to car. With the wheel those changes are multiplied.

Playing with the wheel may be slower, but I wouldn't have it any other way.

To the person who asked about the G25, I would suggest you go for the Driving Force GT instead if you're going to drive in automatic transmission and don't care about having a clutch pedal. It's a lot cheaper than the G25 and its just as good.

i really din find a lot of diff b/w standard & professional settings.

How much is Driving force GT for ? & how much can one get the G 25 for ?

+1.

i played gt5p with the g25 mostly, my lap times were almost same with ds3 and g25, so it just comes to the fun factor, and g25 is pure fun, just one drawback u cant score well in drift trials as for using the handbrake u have to PRESS a button near the gear shifter, for drift trials controller ftw

Gran Turismo 5’s Q4 2009 Release Date Confirmed

For those of you out there who still aren’t convinced of Gran Turismo 5’s pending 2009 release date, take a look at the game’s official brochure handed out at last week’s GamesCom convention. Snapped by RiseOfGames, the brochure was quickly translated by forum users – but you don’t have to be fluent in German to figure out what “4. Quartel 2009″ means. Via user G.T.Ace:

Developer: Polyphony – Platform: PS3

Genre: Racing – Number of players: T.B.A.

Release: 4th Quarter of 2009

THE ULTIMATE RACING GAME RETURNS

(lots of stupid PR blah blah, really nothing important)

The player can choose between over

1000 cars to race on incredible detailed racetracks and unlock PlayStation Trophies (blah).

The new NASCAR and WRC championships improve the Gran Turismo experience. Players are challenged to fight their way up the online leaderboards against other racedrivers from all over the world.

Come to think of it 4th Quarter of 2009 can mean Dec 31 if its said bt a marketing person or it can even mean Mar 31 2010 if its said by a financial person.
