WhatsInTheName
From Kotaku - Turns out that a demo of damage-modeling Gran Turismo 5 was indeed playable on the Gamescom show floor this week. And in the middle of all of those demo stations was this midnight black Audi TT hooked up to a Playstation 3, hydraulics and smoke machines. People stood in line to sit inside the real car and drive a digital one in GT5 while watching their performance on a big screen located in front of the car. Sharp turns and bumps made the Audi wiggle a bit as well. name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"></param><embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>"> name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"></param><embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"> Why didnt I go to Gamescom why why why oh right, I lost my visa papers

Bulovski
I played a bit of GT5P - love it. I might actually pick it up. Now here's the nub. What's the difference between GT and Forza in terms of car handling and racing?
MarketTantrik
I played a bit of GT5P - love it. I might actually pick it up. Now here's the nub. What's the difference between GT and Forza in terms of car handling and racing? GT5P is a better overall experience, expecially with the stunning graphics. But in terms of pure sim fun, Forza 2 is better.
Bulovski
when I am racing the graphics are secondary - I don't find the Forza graphics too horrible. I did find the car handled a bit better in Forza - but that could be because I put realistic physics in GT5P to On.

I have always enjoyed the way cars handle in Forza 2. Plus, when you are traveling at 150+ kmph, it feels like it. Not so in GT5P.

rAgHaV
Gran Turismo 5's Q4 2009 Release Date Confirmed For those of you out there who still aren’t convinced of Gran Turismo 5’s pending 2009 release date, take a look at the game’s official brochure handed out at last week’s GamesCom convention. Snapped by RiseOfGames, the brochure was quickly translated by forum users – but you don’t have to be fluent in German to figure out what “4. Quartel 2009″ means. Via user G.T.Ace: Developer: Polyphony – Platform: PS3 Genre: Racing – Number of players: T.B.A. Release: 4th Quarter of 2009 THE ULTIMATE RACING GAME RETURNS (lots of stupid PR blah blah, really nothing important) The player can choose between over 1000 cars to race on incredible detailed racetracks and unlock PlayStation Trophies (blah). The new NASCAR and WRC championships improve the Gran Turismo experience. Players are challenged to fight their way up the online leaderboards against other racedrivers from all over the world. http://www.gtplanet.net/gran-turismo-5s-q4...date-confirmed/ _____________________________
HundredProofSam
Racing is more fun in Forza 2. As for car handling I think both do it very well, though I'd give GT the edge despite not having the tuning capabilities that Forza 2 does. You really feel the weight of a car around corners and down a slope in GT, which Forza 2 doesnt do quite as well IMO. GT always gets labelled as sterile and there's truth to that. If you're gonna race clean and the way the professionals do, GT is amazing. But I guess in a game that's not as easy, and Forza 2 just comes out on top as a better racing game. @raghav: posted on previous page peace
playstation
How realistic is Gran Turismo 5? The answer is: quite realistic! For those who don’t know, Gran Turismo 5 will allow players to cruise through various real-life cities, one of which is Tokyo. There’s nothing new in that - Metropolis Street Racer did it almost a decade ago on the Dreamcast - but GT5 almost certainly boasts the most beautiful virtual Tokyo ever. After the racer was shown off at the GamesCom convention last week, Japanese blogger Hatamaki posted a pile of screengrabs from the game in action, and compared them to shots from Google Maps. The side-by-side comparison shots reveal an impressive level of accuracy: no surprise, considering the team at Polyphony Digital snapped tens of thousands of pictures of the real-world locations. The pictures above and below (see more here) are set in the Akasaka district of Tokyo. I also threw in a video of Gran Turismo 5’s new car damage model for good measure. Strangely for a series that brags about its realistic depiction of racing, this will be the first GT game in which your car can be smashed up. IshmaelIsBack
Dutch retailer shows GT5 official box art and '09 release A Dutch retailer, InterToys, took out a full page ad for Gran Turismo 5, advertising the game with a 2009 release. The ad also shows what may be the official box art for the game as well. Further, upon going to InterToys website, they have the game listed for a November 2 release. GamesCom came and went with no news on the official Gran Turismo release date, but this marks yet another piece of evidence pointing towards a 2009 release date. If the game is due out this holiday season, expect word of it's release date to hit soon. Here's that retailer
