Yeah, I know. Which is exactly why me and my dad have our eyes set upon the i10. We did consider the Ritz at first but somehow we kept coming back to the i10 for some reason. What are the aspects the Ritz has going for it over the i10?

Ritz has more space than i10. The seats of ritz are slightly wider than i10's.

Also the roof is higher which is ideal for tall ppl. The seats are higher than other cars so it gives a feel of semi-suv.

And of course since its maruti so best maintenance and after sales value.

But i10 has better interiors than ritz.

Mileage is more or less the same.

But the diesel version of ritz does hv some power in it.

Ur choice.

I'd stay away from cars with low presence in the country. Which makes it easier for me to narrow down the list of cars I'd shortlist in case I make a purchase. I'm not confident of buying a Nissan or a Renault etc today.

Volkswagen is picking up presence. Lot of Ventos and Polos on the road, so I'd take a chance with them though.

Plz take a test drive of Polo ASAP. :P

Let me help people with their skepticism with regards to Fluence. Before finalising a particular car always keep in mind that no matter how much you dislike a certain brand never eliminate without atleast taking a test ride. Also check the used car markets, have seen cars that have done sub 5k kms on sale and getting sold for half the price..

GS do compare Fluence Vs Cruze Vs Altis(which I strongly dont recommend unless your sole purpose is reliability). Select the best car out of the 3.

If you like Fluence then go for it. Remember it is Renault-Nissan group.. Till the time Nissan is present you need not worry about Renault's presence in India. Renault may be new but it is not setting up a new plant or a new office here in India.. everything is shared with Nissan apart from showrooms that are not chargeable to Renault anyway.

Note choose the best car but don't dismiss Fluence just yet ;)

Renault and Nissan together have really great cars which they will introduce in India slowly ;) And most probably India will become the export hub for their other cars as well. as Micra is already being exported from here you need not worry about the group's survival.

nah dude, i wont be considering Fluence. The same thing was said when Peugeot was launched in India in tie up with fiat, even though fiat had a solid presence in India during that time it was not able to save the car and now even Fiat has consolidated its position in the market. There is no point in making the same mistake again. Also keeping the sustainability issue aside, the new companies do have the problem of a*s and service center location. Nissan is already suffering from that problem right now.

Ok, forget about the new company and stuff. the car itself, esp the diesel version is a major letdown

http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/official-new-car-reviews/101671-renault-fluence-test-drive-review.html

The only killer feature thats available in this car and absent from all the other cars in the market is RCA AUX input instead of USB and 3.5 mm AUX input........ I mean RCA AUX input , WTF

this should give you guys a fair idea of how well they have judged the Indian market

Thanks a ton bro. Much appreciated. :D

I wasn't much into cars before my dad agreed to buy me a new one so could you explain what exactly the disadvantages are of the 13" wheels? And which model do you have? I'll probably be getting the Sportz. Would you prefer a Sportz over Magna? I mean, are the features in the Sportz worth it? Thanks again!

I have a sportz man... a few elec gizmos here and there make up the sportz over the magna. Electrically adjustable outside mirrors, rear wiper, things like that.... I will take the sportz over the magna anyday... .

And the problem with 13" wheels is that they arent that wide, and at high speeds(over 120) you wont get the confidence that your car is stable. But for city driving it doesnt matter.

GS it us your decision at the end of the day.. But a TD wont hurt at all.. Your case for getting your preferred car may even get stronger.. I am not advocating for Fluence at all.

Well I have read that report and all i would say is they have anticipated that diesel model would have more demand than petrol models. so they have tried to make it affordable at the expense of features that may or may not be deal breakers. do remember that their level of localisation is not at the same level as chrvvy cruze it prime competition which also got its pricing bang on. people will definitely favour cruze over fluence anyday so they couldnt make it more expensive.

no car that got an EPS unit will be as stable as other cars with a Hydraulic unit. Heck my SX4 Diesel got an EPS unit and my SX4 P got a hydraulic one and both the cars come fitted with similar tyres still my petrol is more fun to drive and more stable. I do a lot of Pune-Mum drives and I know how much I miss the Hydraulic unit..

Looking for good stability then get Beat P before they introduce EPS in few months time. Looking for an exceptional ride and handling experience then get a punto B)

Do check if beat comes with that Chevvy 3 year service package thingy..

From the link GS posted the Fluence looks like a reject from an 80's american sitcom which an out of work detective would drive.

In this segment I wouldn't even consider any car except the Cruze. Looks great, drives awesome and the interiors are just brilliant.

What makes cruze a mouth-watering option is it's features and fun to drive quotient. However if I wanted a chauffer driven car, I would have gone for altis, because of it's space comfort and FE. I just could not imagine who would want to buy fluence diesel for 16-17 OTR, for what RCA inputs?

Btw gaurav did you change the tires of the cruze when you bought it? Coz guys in team bhp are saying that stock tires are pathetic and a tire swap is almost a necessity for cruze

I frankly LOVE the space in the altis. The back seat is amazing.Great thigh support, flat floor and lot of legroom. It may not thrill petrol-heads, but its a fantastic car for what its intended for. Comfortable no-nonsense drive.

On a mixed usage (60 highway 40 city) I get around 12-13 kmpl which is fantastic for a 1.8L engine

No, didn't change any tires here. I don't quite get what's wrong with this tire-change-junta. Buy a car and drive it well. It's not like you're racing on a racing strip every day. There's plenty of grip. One idiot changes tires and says the new ones are far better than the stock ones and boom... everyone's suddenly changing tires. Stock ones are fine. If you really really feel the grip is poor, go ahead and change. But in a 2000km long trip we took over the first few days when the car was brand new, we never once had any issue despite speeds being beyond 100kmph on several stretches even over long turns.

gaurav what about the cheap plastics/interior quality in cruze ? :fear:

Well plastics aren't exactly top quality (I mean BMW or Merc or whatever has better plastics) but they're in line with the other offerings in this segment. Better than most Suzuki offerings (haven't seen the Kizashi's interiors though) and on par with the Altis and Civic. They're not that bad quite frankly and the finishing is tight. The interiors are good on the whole (though I wish the current black interiors option was available back then) and the dash looks kickass in the dark with that nice center console lighting up in blue (with a decent sized LCD screen) and the blue and red instrument panel on the driver's side.

Yeah thts what I fail to understand, if ppl are gonna put better tires it's obviously gonna give better performance, I think the whole thing might be a bandwagon effect. Why waste 20k on a brand new tyre when u can get awesome accesiories for the same price

Yes, you really should drive a Cruze on stock tires and see whether u really really need a tire change. Frankly, you don't, but someone started off a convo on the teamBHP thread about the tire size possibly being a bit thin for the Cruze's wheelbase and immediately people were buying new tires left right and center..... some guys got into real trouble with larger-than-necessary tires that didn't fit too. Some serious problems with some guy with a Black Cruze who replaced the tires on his new Cruze first thing. Crazy ppl..

yeah will definitely TD it and decide, but if there would have been any major problem then GM would have taken steps to rectify it by now since it involves a 3 rd party and there is no way i am gonna go for larger tires.

that is absolutely true.. i agree that they get into really minute details.. they all like to huddle together and look for solutions even over minor problems. the fanboys over there are worse than fanboys over here. worst are the Fiat fanboys .. unless you truly feel that there is a need to change something in the car only then you should do it.

They have a concept of posting sales figures of cars in a thread every month.. the bloody thread runs into tens of pages within hours. and what people do is just talk about how a particular model is going down and that the company is doing nothing about it. and how they feel sorry that a certain car isnt doing good numbers
