so cruze it is :naughty:

bu bu butttt y auto? weren't u against auto?

I had td'ed manual earlier just for the sake of it tried the auto. I don't like the auto transmissions ESP if I were to drive only 1 car which is auto. Coz it completely takes away the driving expereince and makes the entire driving expereince look like driving fm3 with all assists on. But even the civic is my car for all the practical reasons, so I

Mite just go for auto cruze , this will also ensure that no 1 in my extended family or even my dads driver gets to drive the car. Coz they havent driven an automatic transmission before, so the car would be completely in my control

But Cruze

yeah, it's a complete win car, awesome features combined with a fun to drive experience. However the cars rear seat headroom is kind of cramped to the other cars in the category, not that it matters me as I would be driving it myself. Another thing which bothered me is the brakes on the car, there is very low travel distance of the brakes, and it kind of feels very rigid. Both versions of the car had this problem.

but y u njoe bmw/merc/audi way?

Coz it's me buying the car with most of my money and some of my fathers. Forget about me even my dad cannot afford a BMW/Audi and I mercs are not that appeal if to me anywyays :P. The only way I can get it is go for the 3 year lease option, but the cars in my family last for more than 7-8 years, so even leasing is out of question.

Cruze is the best option in that segment. I have it and it's a pleasure to drive the car. Listing some pro's and con's for your reference:

Pros:

- Power monster- NO better car in its category that can match Cruze's power. Can easily touch 180 KMPH, Max 210 KMPH. Mind blowing acceleration.

- Looks- Although subjective, most would agree its the best looking car in its segment

- Features- Climate control, the best OEM speakers in its class, steering mounted controls, sun roof (optional) etc.

- Maintenance- Competitive

Cons:

- Clutch is tight- City Bumper to Bumper traffic becomes a pain sometimes

- Rear headroom not so good

Another suggestion, do go for a tyre change as soon as you purchase it. Go for a continental CP2 and it will make your car complete. Noise levels will fall (though they are still ok) and performance will go a notch up. I made the mistake of not getting it done.

i wont go for the tire change, i even had a discussion with gaurav regarding it some posts back, considering that the TD models are fitted with stock tires, i dont see any problems with it. I would be better off spending that money getting some accessories for the car :).

I am just curious how man ppl use the climate control feature, coz i have rarely used it in the Civic, the fluctuations in the fan speed as the car tries to maintain the temperature is annoying for me.

Yeah the car is as fun to drive as civic and it looks good as well. I have not yet researched about the maintenance part, but i hope its not on the higher side.

BTW i have heard that automatics have high maintenance cost is it true?

I wouldnt recommend the cruze , a new facelift (pretty big one) is coming by the year end.

More powerful engine , better interiors ,better rear seating etc.

your choice . although I wouldn't want my new car to be outdated in just a couple of months if you know what I mean.

Jumping right in. Am planning to buy a car. Hatchback, to be precise.

Major considerations :

  • Budget is 5L
  • Based in Bangalore. So should be good and zippy in city as that would be most of the usage.
  • Will be using it for weekend outings occasionally (highway performance at higher speeds like 100odd should be decent too).
  • Am a tall guy, so headroom and legroom is a major consideration.
  • Cars I have in mind are Beat, i10 and Ritz (don't go all WagonR on me here, my folks already have one...)

Please give me suggestions also on other models as I'm not aware of any of the recent launches.

I'd say try it for a few months and change the tires IFF you absolutely feel they are poor.

And the looks

Seen a few cruzes here but looks like everyone and their uncle here has a Mustang. Fewer Camaros and Corvettes though, but the Camaro looks kickass :wOOtjumpy:
