Typical politician color sunil :P

and yeah,, cruze is indeed getting a facelift and a revamp.. and it could be by the end of this year as well..

Jumping right in. Am planning to buy a car. Hatchback, to be precise.

Major considerations :

  • Budget is 5L
  • Based in Bangalore. So should be good and zippy in city as that would be most of the usage.
  • Will be using it for weekend outings occasionally (highway performance at higher speeds like 100odd should be decent too).
  • Am a tall guy, so headroom and legroom is a major consideration.
  • Cars I have in mind are Beat, i10 and Ritz (don't go all WagonR on me here, my folks already have one...)

Please give me suggestions also on other models as I'm not aware of any of the recent launches.

Ritz out of the three.. but u can also consider the most expensive Tin Ka dabba i.e. Liva(good space) and Honda brio will be launched by the end of this month and it is spacious.

And Micra is also surprisingly spacious..

Beat will be too claustrophobic and i10 got a tall stance so meet your criteria.. anywho I hate anything that got a hyundai badge on it and will never suggest one, so go with ritz in case u want piece of mind.

Liva if you like to buy tin cans.

Brio if you want that zippy and refined car with premium interiors.

Micra in case you like to drive 3 cyl engine car.

and oh how can u forget about Figo?? Big on space again. But strictly for those people who prefer plastics over tin cans :P

I'd say try it for a few months and change the tires IFF you absolutely feel they are poor.

And the looks

Seen a few cruzes here but looks like everyone and their uncle here has a Mustang. Fewer Camaros and Corvettes though, but the Camaro looks kickass :wOOtjumpy:

Didn't you win any car yet?

lol, i just read the first 4 points and was going to give the same options, Ritz and Beat.

Of the 2 cars, i have only driven ritz and it does have decent headroom as well as leg room, and its also good to drive in cities :)

I personally like (or don't mind) the Ritz's odd looks. And its spacious in front at least. Plus the Maruti Suzuki reliability (my folks would be happy this way).

But none of my friends or their friends own any, whereas the i10 is tried, tested and trusted. If only it didn't look so much like the Santro...

I have not driven an i10 but in terms of space i can only assume the Ritz is much bigger. I would say go between the selection of Beat and Ritz.

@sunil: Increase your budget and get a Skoda Superb.

@piper: Get a base version of new swift or increase your budget by 80k and get the VXI version with ABS. It beats all the above cars by a mile. Ritz base version is also 4.95 and swift is 5.2
