It beats all the above cars by a mile. Ritz base version is also 4.95 and swift is 5.2 Cruz bitchslaps the Superb in almost every dept. except space. And on what basis do you say that the new swift isnt very good? If you are talking about swift losing its identity then it got a booking backlog of 90000 units. Agree that cruze is only slightly powerful but that is what it was meant to be and that doesn't mean that superb isnt powerful enough. Superb can otherwise swallow a cruze and not even burp about it And mind you no american/ japanese car can even match the handling and toughness that European cars offer. It is not just about the new looks but every single body panel is different from the outgoing model. and as per being the best in terms of handling. none of the hatchbacks can even come closer to Punto in the handling department. Bhpian Bali Posted September 10, 2011 Report Share Posted September 10, 2011 (edited) i agree about Skoda Superb, after sitting in it and driving it for around 100 kms, it was absolute bliss, and cruze except great looks hardly offers anything that Superb offers. and yup European > japanese, coming form a guy who loves his honda city more then anything else, but my next car would be either a Passat or a Superb(or at those levels what ever is there in the market) Punto might be a great handler but i found it a little bulkier and swift was well swifter , plus add the A.S.S from Fiat or tata in this case, no wonder punto and linea bombed and faded away... European toughness and handling vs Japanese swiftness again.. i rest my case but sad to see great cars like Punto and Linea failing in India. In Brazil Linea is a cruze/corolla/civic competitor and comes with 1.9 ltr engine and look at its state in India. Haha. Looks like Team BHP needs to loosen up Slight foot in the mouth thing here but here's how I think Cruze beats the Superb: I like the drive better. Looks better. Wait, much better. Center console is better. Engine sounds better. Mileage. Stock stereo is better. Has most of the bells & whistles, I'm not exactly sure which ones are missing but in general outlook I did not seem to miss any, compared to then Superb. (Comparing with the AT BTW) I can play around with it more. All black interiors. Much less maintenance (as far as my exp goes) Overall, to me, its a more attractive car. Plus the fact that its half a million less is cherry. Or gold. Solid gold. Like with the Swift, or anything I like, I like my likes () to have an identity of their own. Something which I can fall after. The Swift had that when it came out. Now it seems mixed up somewhat. I may change my mind once I spend more time with it but as far as backlog goes, 90k units is no biggie for a mid size popular Maruti, especially with the propensity of consumption today. I did not know of the body panels change or the improved handling and what all under the hood improvements are there, it just doesn't look like Swift anymore. The drive and the look. I was this close to ordering it for my Grandad. They gimped it in interiors and power and it's been quite a while since I've been hearing that a higher specced one will come out "in the coming months". Cruze checks all the box for sunil, but since he already has a civic and driven it, cruze is not an upgrade its just a diff car in the same segment...
