Given that budget I'll pick a Jetta Comfortline. It offers everything you need in a modern day saloon

- Great engine, 140PS power and oodles of torque. It can handle the stop-start city traffic as well as long highways and expressways.

- Handling and ride is excellent. Seats are comfortable and suspension is well tuned to tackle poor roads and potholes.

- Car looks beautiful. Its got straighter lines which look lot better than the curvy designs (see Cruze) as it gives car a more mature character. It'll age a lot better.

- Its got very simple yet elegant interiors. No gimmicks. Black-beige interiors look good and classy at the same time.

- Well designed airy cabin. AC is very effective. You also get rear ac vents though climate control is missing.

- Eight speakers and touch screen head unit with a 6 disc CD changer along with aux in and ipod connector.

- Top notch safety equipment. Front and rear discs along with ABS+BA+EBD+ESP, Six airbags and a 5 star NCAP rating.

- Its GERMAN!! which means you can be assured of quality.

Last but not the least its a diesel!! In the current market scenario you want to buy a diesel. fiive years down the line resale value of your Civic will be horrible whereas you'll get good money for the Jetta.

Civic is at end of its life cycle, if your heart is set on Civic please take a look at used market. It'll offer you far better VFM. Civic is not worth 15L OTR when you can get a well maintained, low mileage Civic for 45-50% of its price. Line all the top used car dealers and see few cars in person and subsequently you'll find the car you're looking for.

Please take a thorough test drive of the cars before deciding on one (new or used) All the best with your purchase!

Ya jetta is in the list, went to volkswagen showroom, they din't have the TD vechile today, will get it to my place tomorrow. Let's see. I am going to test fluence as well.
