Cars between 15-20 lakhsIMO the Honda Accord is a stunning car!
Honda Accord is one stunner of a car
yeah... but it's 20lakhs and It's petrol :P

the problem is, there's no other car at that range which has a diesel option.... that's the reason I was considering the Laura...

You are right. There are no other sedans in that range for the diesel. Is the car going to be chauffeur driven or you are gonna drive it personally?? Because if you drive it then your options might change accordingly.

It'll be driven by the driver for most of the day and by my father in the evenings when he gets out of the house. He might even sack the driver if he gets a good automatic :(

Well the Skoda Superb is a better option than Honda Accord in that range. The Accord is a real safe bet though.
yeah but my dad doesn't really wanna invest that much as of now so was looking at the 15 lakh range cars which are unfortunately only 3 or 4 cars including the civic...

akash... yeah but still, it's easier to run... more mileage means less journeys to the petrol bunk :O

Civic is an awesome car but it's age is starting to show. You could stick with the Jetta - it's a VW so it's a good car. Or if you don't mind a used Camry check that out. The last model is fantastic.

@ praveen.. i'd go for th fiat 500 abarth. better snob value than any car thereabouts and it's diesel. :naughty: also, michael schumacher drives one. :happydance:

the notion that diesel cars have a lesser life or have problems is a thing of the past. in the last few years, the nly innovations in internal combustion engines has been in diesel. rite now, they dont sound all that bad, have as much life as a petrol engine, give better mileage and much higher torque!! diesel ftw

the latest accord looks amazing. if a transformer from cybertron were ever to drop in India, it would take the accord as its 'alter ego'. :happydance:

all skoda cars tho..are a little too drab fr their price. they tried to give a sorta european styling to the superb, it still looks..boring. same with the laura. tho laura and superb were always for giving u more features for less.

I'm planning to get a Corolla Altis. Mostly by this week everything should be finalised. I wanted a petrol car firstly and it was down between this and the civic. Civic's interiors were amazing, but call me old fashioned, but the low height of the car didnt appeal to me. I know its aerodynamic n stuff, but I'm not one to drive above 100 in most cases. Plus the low ground clearance of the Civic was the final dealbreaker.

Any inputs on the Corolla? I drove it, feels nice and and interiors are good too. Felt comfortable during the test drive.

Of course the pickup of the Civic is better and the Civic probably has the better performing engine.

If you dont mind relatively boring looks, the corolla is a wonderful car... great pickup, good ground clearance and I'm pretty sure it gives a much better mileage than the civic.

I have a 5 yr old corolla (the H5 (top) variant) and it still drives great so reliability and service is not an issue with Toyota cars.

btw, the civic scrapes even small bumps, with a few ppl in the car :P and the mileage is :( but looks :P

@achilles and praveen,

Well yea you're right, Civic looks more awesome and the Altis is just a slimmed down version of the Camry, but I find it okay and not that bad really. The look of the altis's front is arguable no doubt. But nothing I can do about it. Plus I dont really have other choices in that segment of 11-14 lacs. Yes, there is the Jetta and Octavia but the Octavia's highly dated now plus Skoda is well known for shitloads of troubles as stated in the Tbhp links above and the petrol Jetta is highly not recommended by many people.

Civic would've been awesome, but the scraping was a major bummer for me as I have to travel daily through some rough patches of roads plus the entry to my home is one big incline. Btw, did yall see the 2009 facelift to the current civic on our roads? I think its selling in the East already. It sucks bigtime and is nothing compared to the current civic running on our roads. Honda has a lot to do to up the looks of that

Atleast with Toyota, you can be assured of brilliant service and a headache free experience. That is unanimous from most Toyota owners.
