Guys.. I may have screwed up but I dont know ... This is the situation ..

TL;DR : 1 . I bought a front tire to fit at the rear for my bike (R15) ... Is this a problem ?? Pls HALP

2. Do tire sizes matter a lot when buying for bikes ??

Long Version :

My R15 Started skidding every single time I brake .. and the Rear tire has had 2 punctures

so I decided to change the tires finally

So went to yamaha service centre and they said they don't have any stock of tires and told me to ask nearby dealership

I went to the MRF dealership the guy there was there is a strike or something in MRF Factories so they stopped making tires that come for my bike

They said that they have a 90-80-17 Tire instead of a 80-90-17 Tire .. So .. should I Buy This ???

So i went to Many shops for the rear tire and finally bought Michelin Pilot Sporty 100-80-17 which cost me 1800

By that time the service centre closed and so i took the tire home.

I showed it to my cousin and he was like this is a front tire (It was written on the Tire)... so i realised my whole life has been a lie and front and back had different tires .

I called the place I bought the tire from and they said cool they'll replace it with a CEAT tire of size 100-90-17 NOT 100-80-17 of stock tires and costs 2000.... Is CEAT a good company ???

The stock tires were

front MRF Zapper Nylogrip 80-90-17

rear MRF Zapper Nylogrip 100-80-17

So what should I do ..

1. Keep the Michelin (front tire or rear tire no big deal as long as same size bro).

2. Take the CEAT tire (you need rear tire for rear tire dumbass).

This is my first time looking for a tire Pls Help Thanks :)

First, I suggest you take the CEAT. Front tyre and rear tyres serve different purposes..you'd know something's awfully wrong when you ride.

Secondly, as a thumb rule, whenever changing tyres, change both front and rear...I'd call changing one tyre rather foolish, but I don't want to sound mean here :P

EDIT, just noticed the tyre size consusion as well....100-90-17 will make your ride very slightly less sporty, but it will increase your contact patch with the ground.

Meaning that your ride will be more stable than before. But you might want to change your front tyre size to balance that as well (rider preference, really).

Also, stock tyres are not necessarily always the best. In this case, I'd prefer the 100-90-17, but it will affect / retard other parameters like mileage, etc.,

Check this link for a precise difference in performance between the two tyres>

My tires are literally bald and have no threads and my riding confidence has massively reduced and stock tires will never be available cause the new version has different sizes.

I asked the service center about the tire size changes he said if both tires have similar changes it wont be a big deal and i wont notice the difference. I have to take his word as I cant really wait I use the bike daily.

Yeah bro of course changing both tires.

I Got a MRF ZAPPER 90/80 17 Tires for front. The R15 V2 front tire

So i took your suggestion and went back to the tire dealer and he showed me a CEAT Vertigo 100/90 17

SDL125591317_1387200340_image1-c8bc5.jpg..... I was like WTF is this. He was like its a good tire and a lot of ppl buy this tire and value for money and sh*t. He didnt understand what i meant.

I looked around for new rear tire and luckily there was Michelin Pilot Street Radial in another shop that costs 4k :( I Bought it. No other tire had the profile I was looking for

According to the link the changes seem really small. I don't really push the bike at all I mean I do go at 90-100 km/h on empty highways but don't really corner or accelerate like crazy. Actually I don't really know why I got an R15 I should got a Ray or something

(I Love my bike as it still runs really good after 4 years).

Anyway Thanks .. Sorry if my posts are really long. :)

CEAT tyres are generally good. But I didn't know that the dealer was trying to sell you this lol.

I don't think it's designed for a sport bike at all :P

But glad that you got a better tyre. And don't worry about the cost of the Michelin, it should be worth the price!

Ride happy and ride safe bro!

I20 is the best bet. New model with tons of features and will stay fresh for 3-4 years.

Polo only if you can manage expensive service and not so good A.S.S of VW.

If you aren't in a hurry you can also wait for Jazz launching in match next year.

Sent from my Nexus 4

It is a pity they removed the DRL from the new one.
