Nemo
@Megzworld There was an article not so long back about Mercedes selling a similar amount of cars (~150) in a single day in Aurangabad. Wow! From what I hear luxury carmakers do excellent business in these Tier 2 cities (Ludhiana, Coimbatore, Cochin and now Aurangabad). eeyup. for all the rich industrialists, its the money in agriculture (or real estate getting into agri land) that gets most of these cars. specially sugarcane farmers. Kolhapur has per capita highest no of Mercedes cars in india... or maharashtra, i dont remember the specific details.
megzworld
^^ Irony of the situation.. That is also the same belt with highest number of farmers suicide cases.
MotaGENDA
I think the highest number of Mercs are in Ludhiana

ctrl_alt_del
Ok, so here is the question. Yesterday, while climbing into my friends brand new BMW, I snapped his passenger side dashboard mounted cup holder cleanly into two. Can anyone tell me if the dealership will replace it for free? Checking it out online tells me that it will cost me $85 to replace it. I don't know the model of the car yet except for the fact that it cost him somewhere around $40,000. Solitaire
40k? That's between the top M3 and the M5 as far as I know. Maybe a 5 series?
ctrl_alt_del
I have no clue....I barely got to look properly at the car....the moment I climbed in, the thing snapped into two and landed in my friends lap....needless to say his mood after that was pretty frosty...and I was sufficiently uncomfortable with the whole situation to ask him for any more details like the model and make. If I were you, I'd have jumped out of the car and run in a zig-zag pattern until I was out of line of sight
ctrl_alt_del
Believe me, I was tempted to do that but I did not move least I broke something else in the process. The model is BMW 328I
Madhav
The model is BMW 328I is it just for $40,000? Edited December 20, 2010 by Madhav
Solitaire
is it just for $40,000? Does that surprise you? Our government puts so much in the way of duty that BMWs and Mercs are even more expensive than they would otherwise be here. That's why the prices are several lakhs above what you'd pay in the States for it. You can buy a f**king M3 for 30 lakhs. WAIT WHY'S THE M5 MISSING FROM THE BMW US SITE? I mean under the M section directly as well as the Build Your Own section (which I frequently peruse to torture myself). Solitaire
That is what I was told. I know jackshit about cars in any case. Your friend is right, 40k is pretty much the price of a 328i in the states with tax and once you add a few options to the car. This of course is for an outright purchase. If you lease it for a fixed period like 3 years, you only need to pay depreciation for that period and when that time ends you can get yourself a new car. All the options that car purchasers have in the US. Apparently, you can get it a bit cheaper if you order it via BMW USA and pick it up yourself at BMW HQ in Germany (that picking it up at the heart of BMW is itself one "5 star treatment" kinda process), then drive it around in Europe and ship it to the states (provided you are on a Europe tour at that time) . I don't quite understand how but that's what my brother in Arizona did.
