Solitaire
Why don't you just win one for them Good idea. But like I've been saying, I'm on a giveaway hiatus after the Nexus S win. Kinda very busy and I feel I've won enough for now. It will begin when my mind is a bit less troubled. But my aim is to buy, or atleast fund 75% of a BMW purchase (3 or 5 series) for my Dad within the next 7 years. I know, it's a long time, but I plan like a lot and it'll take quite some time for me to earn enough, and return that same joy my dad has given me over the years. Death Stryke
Looks good. But if only they'd have brought the original concept design here though, would have been even better. This ain't nowhere near the cruze's looks though. But I don't get it. Aren't the cruze, civic and corolla in the same price range (almost) and the superb in a wholly different (5 lakhs more expensive atleast) range?? If anything this will dent the civic's (which hasn't changed much in a long time) sales the most, followed by chevrolet's cruze (still a wonderful deal cos it's just 15 on road fully loaded for the top end) and then the toyota corolla. Civic's becoming rather boring of late, same damn design with just the tail lights changed. And both the kizashi and the civic seem to have (atleast looking at the picture above) a dashboard that meets the windshield's base quite far in the front giving the illusion of a lot of space wasted. Didn't quite like the civic at all for that reason among a few others back when we took a few test drives. Was more impressed by the Altis. And even more by the Cruze (especially the looks and the engine). Mum's holding back my Dad, who is generally a fan of Maruti (always had atleast one Maruti Suzuki in the family, right now my Baleno). He's going "Let's buy the Kizashi as soon as we can get in a test drive" and chuck the Baleno but I'm on the fence (though it would benefit me either way lol - I'd get the cruze or a kizashi ). Well cruze is still on the higher side with an OTR of 15 lacs. Civic and Corolla are available with mid level model at 12.5-13 lacs and entry level at 10-11. Thats why I said main competition would be cruze and superb (Superb is 21-23, but I feel with the premium tag attached to this car, it will attract prospective superb buyers too). Toyota is getting boring too. Only reason I took the corolla instead of the civic is due to the civics pathetic/soft suspension and low GC. Although, its a comfort to drive at 80-100 which is what this car is intended for. And I agree, both corolla and civic need a massive facelift. @Athek, well yeah it does look like an SX4 from the front, but look at those interiors. I never really liked the SX4's looks. Looks too "fat" IMO. Edited January 31, 2011 by Death Stryke
AtheK
New version of Manza Announced, Indigo name dropped, its called Manza Elan. Comes standard with Alloy wheels, upmarket seat covers leather like, but not leather and lot of more Chrome Treatment done including front fog lamps. Tata is doing a great job, and plan to drop Indigo name is a great idea

There's the LT coming in at significantly lower, I have no idea about the price of the Automatic versions. When we checked it out, the then "new remodeled" Civic was going at pretty much 14-15 OTR. And it lacked a few things that we wanted too, so we didn't pick it up. Came very close to buying the Altis though, still feel sad for that poor Senthil Kumar guy at Lanson Toyota whose heart we broke with that near purchase thing we did. Yeah, I kinda hate the SX4 too. No matter what the interior / technological advancements over its predecessor, the Baleno, it kinda took a step back looks-wise. Went closer to the Swift Dezire than to other "longer" sedans. Senthil Kumar?!?!? LOL, he was my service agent some time back at Lanson. He's the guy I call for any troubles i face. I had some repainting to do, he did a great job and did the touch up free of cost. hehe. And I agree, I totally dislike these squashed sedans like Dzire, Indigo etc. Dunno why, look disproportionate to me :S @Aman I dunno dude. This is the side view. Does it really look appealing to u :-/. Those tyres look misplaced. Plus the boot wala section. Pata nahi, both Dzire and Manza seem like the a boot has been attached to a hatchback. This is just me. Like Gaurav said, sedans need to look little longish. But if you're liking it then well and good IMO, seeing the pics of the new accent in testing, that would probably be the best looking car in the 8lac segment. Still has my number, and if any relative is interested in buying a Corolla or other Toyota model, I make sure to give them his number. Very nice guy, was ready to bring the Altis home for THREE test drives even. And that last moment when we were almost sold on the Altis, we were talking to him about deciding on the color. Suddenly, one more test drive with the Cruze kinda spoiled his party.
supersim
Cruze would ve been perfect in its segment but for the terrible turbolag
Solitaire
Cruze would ve been perfect in its segment but for the terrible turbolag After the first set of cars, that turbolag has been tweaked. I don't know how. I don't have any lag though, only problem is the clutch is kinda hard when coming from an Accent (very very very nice car to drive) and then a Baleno, and it can be rather unforgiving if you take your mind off it for a few seconds on a slope or while at a signal. Sadly for me I experienced this last week when driving with my Herr Hitler in the front seat next to me. He went "Didn't I tell you to watch the clutch? You're 22 nearly and can't even follow basic instructions @#&*^!!*!&*@ " the minute the car switched off, and my loudmouth aunt told my relatives that I "don't know to drive" However, after getting used to it for 10-15 minutes, it's an absolute beast to drive. Oh, the power Flies on the highway too especially. Edited January 31, 2011 by Gaurav - Solitaire

AtheK
No because of their after sale service and crappy cars. well then you probably are living under a rock, there are 2 manza in my buildings and i had a chance to talk to both the owners and they are very happy with the car and A S S, it used to be pathetic earlier but they have really up the tempo now. They pick the car from home and drop it back after service, you get calls from the tata service HQ's asking how was the experience (Specially for Manza and Aria) , they are trying and just writing them off cos probably we can afford expensive cars which give you the same stuff for more price, is not right. As for talking about crappy cars, the design probably is not top notch for manza, but it does not lack in performance, it uses a fiat engine same used by Linea. The new SX4 Diesel will be using the same engine being used in manza and Linea, but people will lap up that car cos it is a Suzuki I am not asking you to love them, but give people chance who are trying to improve and getting better. Etios for all the pathetic Plastics is being touted as THE car, where as after driving the car i think it plain Sucks...they are selling the car on brand name, go to team bhp, see what people are writing about Etios. Death Stryke
@Aman I didnot trash Indigo coz its a Tata. If Tata made such pathetic cars, its cars wouldn't be the success they are today. My view point above was a totally different matter. And yea Etios is the failiest looking car ever. 1000 times better would be City or Vento.
