Everybody's commenting without realising the history, background, culture and demographics of both Sony and Nintendo (deal has had no effect on Nintendo's stock - it rose by nearly 5% in the last 5 days).

Spiderman used to be multiplatform but not anymore. Now same goes for mainline FF games. Its MS time to play dirty. Lol. Max percentage of CoD sales, actual sales, come from the PS ecosystem. How would they earn if they block it out. WHy did they launch Psychonauts 2 on the ps4??? by 2024, PS 5 would hit higher milestones (in terms of sales). They wont be able to ignore the system. Max sales of all Bethesda games were also more PS4 last gen Multiplatform games do sell more but MS don't care about PS sales. If they did then ES6 will not be announced as exclusive Edited January 20 by WhiteWolf

Because they have the power to. They have the dev talent and they depend on in house studios to make franchises gamers just cant ignore. Sony's Marquee games sell in millions. WhiteWolf
MS got steam for some extra sales. They don't need PS whatsoever. So delusional fanboys can keep dreaming. WE HAD SAME f**ckin DISCUSSION WHEN BETHESDA WAS ACQUIRED LOL. You all still at it again. Sony poke the beast. MS not some tiny company that Sony can beat and easily kick them out as competitor. They here to fight and win. War is now beyond console gaming Edited January 20 by WhiteWolf
radicaldude
Quote Microsoft’s Xbox Game Pass service now has 25 million subscribers. That’s up from the 18 million Microsoft previously reported in January last year. The Xbox Game Pass all-you-can-eat catalog of downloadable games — or the “Netflix for video games” as it’s often described — continues to attract new subscribers as Microsoft looks to extend the service. https://www.theverge.com/2022/1/18/22406059/xbox-game-pass-subscribers-25-million-microsoft-activision 18 mil in Jan 2021 25 mil in Jan 2022 I am pretty sure Spender had hoped for more growth. Wonder by how much they would grow this year, (in case their marquee titles get further delayed.) PS- After this acquisition news, many would join (based on speculations) . Would be interested to see the actual numbers. Edited January 20 by radicaldude

Right
I don't know if COD mobile is paty of this deal or not, but dev studio TiMi is owned by Tencent. it makes 40m a month in revenue, that's like $500m a year from just 1 game on mobile!!!! hsk_colossus
I don’t think Ms gives a sh*t about sales now… they care about gamepass number… they will do anything which increases the number of gamepass subs
AnK
If ppl think M$ don’t care about money or won’t play dirty again once they have monopoly, they are just delusional. It can even go to the point where they might block stand-alone purchases & force ppl to subscribe on an inflated rate if they want to access these IP’s. What’s happened in the past is always indicative of the future. Obviously there’s no point in arguing with longtime fanboys as they were fully supporting M$ even when physical sales were tried being hijacked & Kinnect was needlessly being shoved down their throats. M$ was always the one to introduce paywalls in this industry historically. Edited January 20 by AnK
Right
70$ a copy model won't survive for long. It had great run. Best part of GP model is that developers won't have to shut shops if game doesn't work. Netflix has actually pushed the quality of movies/TVs. The best part is that no CD Projekt Red can pull a fast one, like they did with 2077

MS has been doing the same and will do the same if they reach dominant position Edited January 20 by hsk_colossus

Wont be surprised if they launch some titles exclusive to gamepass with an expensive subscription plan for new subs.

In fact, I don't remember the last time I enjoyed a Netflix produced movie. Maybe Trial of Chicago or Don't Look Up.

Charge was only when native port was introduced. GoT Days Gone R&C Hirizon ZD GoW were all free & it’s not even remotely close to even compare to what M$ tried to do (but failed) during XBone launch.
