Which one to read first?

Black swan came first and Antifragile does reference it but many people recommend to read it the other way around.

NNT is a narcissistic philosopher. If you read his work in any order other than the one he published it in, he'll be hopping mad at you. Read Fooled by Randomness first.

Ehhh, Black Swan and FBR are taking almost a week to deliver. Anti fragile will be here tomorrow. Will look for some other stores.

I'm really on the fence about buying Wheel of Time in paperback. I've read them on kindle so far (which is also more than fine, I read 90% stuff on kindle)

I've been hesitant cuz with 15 books and avg price around 500 on amazon, getting the series is gonna run me around 7-8K......

At the same, I'm really loving the series and I kinda want the physical books.

Already making plans for your internship stipend, nice way to spend :)

WoT is one of my favorite high fantasy epics! I was 18-19 and this one guy from the place we used to play CS was talking about it, he had just finished New Spring. I remember downloading all the released ones from bit torrent and reading them. I recently started re-reading everything on my Kindle. I'm on book 8 right now, also turned my wife to it! So many fond memories of WoT! I really hope they get things right in the Amazon series, I treasure these books a lot.

I'll definitely be getting a paperback set of all the books (as soon as I have a proper bookshelf)

Quite a few similarities -

1. Haha I'm 19 now, been reading WoT for a couple months, fantastic stuff.

2. I downloaded all of them using torrent as well, to read on my kindle.

3. I'm also on Book 8 right now, albeit this is my first read through of the series.

I'm hyped for the show, but keeping my expectations low.

PS. If you do wanna buy 'em, make sure to buy the series well before the show or you'll be stuck with tie-in editions or f**king 'as seen on amazon' stickers and all that nonsense.

If you're willing to drop the cash, buy them while you can still get the entire matching set.

Thats partially why I wanna get the paperbacks as well, but I want to save money to get a new phone later this year.

The ebooks have "Soon to be an Amazon Series" tag on them already. I bought half on my kindle then wife hijacked mine, so bought book 6,7 & 8 on hers. I buy the next once when I'm about 80% done with the book (at 69% on Book 8 right now)

Time to jump on the ppbs soon then, cuz right now the covers and set is fantastic. Thats what happened to Witcher, and now you can't get the old editions and have to buy the netflix tie-in editions instead.

I'm around 20% on Book 8 right now, though I would like to finish before the end of the month.

Campus internship season didn't happen?

Thats in 3rd year as far as I'm aware. Also, from what I've heard from seniors internships are a lot more for tech/coding so idk if I will get an opportunity when the time rolls around either.

Lets see.

Ohh, I forgot you were in 2nd year. My bad.

You will opportunities for non-tech/consulting/Product, you gotta make sure your PORs, co & extra-currics are on point. High competition there.

I would advise to just get hold of some prof. from your college and do some project this summer, it will help you later.

Yeah would've been a lot easier in regular college-going circumstances tbh. We're not having classes or any communication with the college right now due to a complete fiasco in April where college was forcing students to come to college physically for practical/lab classes.

Admin full underground hai tabse, no update regarding when/how for 4th sem exams either. Gonna spend the summer trying to work on building skills while also having a good time (this is the book thread after-all and I'm having a great time reading these days)

Unlikely that there will be any opportunities through the college until regular life resumes tbh, unless its placements.

I just realized, I'm on Book 9 actually... sometimes its hard to keep a track!

@North Get the Paperbacks of the remaining books you have left to read. Then when time and finances permits, you can get the remaining ones for collection. The books are awesome, and the later books, especially Books 12-14 are giants. Having the physical copies helps a ton.

Also, before you progress too far (Heck, I would suggest right now, before starting Book 8), read "A New Spring". It's the prequel to The Wheel of Time, and it's seriously awesome. It gives important details like how Moiraine became Aes Sedai and met Lan, the first time the Prophecy of the Dragon Reborn was spoken of in the White Tower etc. It will have a huge impact now, but it's sheen will be a bit lost after the series is over. It's very important for World building, and is an awesome story.

Also is Amazon doing a series on WoT? They are already doing one on LOTR. How much are they putting on their plat? Hope both shows do not flop because of "Too much at once". Also, I thought the TV series were in rights hell. Was Robert Jordan's wife able to take the rights back by any chance?

I'm not sure, but I think Red Eagle is still involved in some way or the other. It was ridiculous how they were able to extend their rights by airing that crappy pilot with Billy Zane.

Fortunately, Amazon has confirmed season 1 as a wrap and already bought season 2. Hoping to see the series launch by Q1/2 2022

Yeah thats what I've been thinking of doing to get the series physically.

For New Spring, the most popular spots are: After Book 7 (for spoilers sake) or after Book 10: publication order (doesn't matter now, of course)

One can read anytime after Book 7 from my research. Since books 8-10 are said to be slow, I plan to read it somewhere in there to break things up and keep myself going.

I have it all mapped out, New Spring I'll be reading in June. I want my WOT journey to end with A Memory of Light.

and yes, the show is supposed to come later this year. S1 is finished. S2 has gotten the greenlight. waiting for a trailer/teaser.

Finished The Path of Daggers book 8 in Wheel of Time! Definitely not as good as the previous too entries, but solid read nonetheless.

I did get the paperback afterall, read the second half physically :)
