outsider
@Maddy: Get into some Robert Rankin - he was described to me as someone in the style of Douglas Adams. With a title like "The Hollow Chocolate Bunnies of the Apocalypse" you just can't go wrong.
DevilsOwn
Finished A Feast for crows. :majesty2: Was hoping for the twist in Cersei's tale as it happened. And GRRM had it unfold just the way i was imagining it. Brilliant. Purchased Dance with dragons as soon as i finished it. Cant wait to start it in sometime. Aftrunner
Finished Name of the Wind. Started off great but just loses all sense of purpose in the last 1/3. The ending sets up the second one nicely but I am pretty wary of it now.

outsider
Just finished The Eyre Affair. Overall, well-written, but was a little long in the tooth towards the end. Reading "Little Brother". Highly recommend it.
Aftrunner
Ok the whole "magic" system in Mistborn is a gigantic metaphor for drugs right? There is one that lets you fly up and one that pushes you down (uppers and downers), one that enhances your senses (weed), one that lets you see trails of colored lines in the air (acid) and one that makes you stronger (cocaine). Quite enjoying the first book though. Very readable.

theneurotoxin
I'm in the mood for some science fiction. Will the Halo books make sense to someone who hasn't played all the games? I see that a new one is out. Excerpt from the Winds of Winter: http://georgerrmarti.../if-sample.html. Good to know that he is focussing on the books as well. Aftrunner
^^Probably not. I am midway through Halo Cryptum, while its very good so far I honestly cant recommend it to non fans. At least not to anyone who hasnt played the first 3 Halo games.

outsider
I just finished Train to Pakistan by Khushwant Singh. It gave me goosebumps. The tale of partition encased in the life of a village (well, one character really). Beautifully written. Evocative.
