Yeah they're actually paying $2.4B upfront and the rest as retention bonus over 2+ years, which is smart considering most top devs just take the money and run away to form their own studio.

UK data is good sample to know what would be happening in the US.

You can't extrapolate numbers but the division across different heads would be almost identical.

UK charts show Nintendo and Sony games in top 10 and no Xbox games even in top 40, so its like a Kryptonite to Xbox fanboys   They do insane mental gymnastic to show that UK charts don't matter (just like Japan).

Sony 'Vastly Overpaid' in 'Desperation' for Bungie, Says Outspoken Analyst Michael Pachter

https://www.pushsquare.com/news/2022/02/sony-vastly-overpaid-in-desperation-for-bungie-says-outspoken-analyst-michael-pachter

Pachter continues: "Just to compare and contrast, EA bought Respawn about three or four years ago for $700 million with 400 developers. And those guys generate $700 million a year in revenue. Bungie does about $200 million in revenue. So I think Sony vastly overpaid."

This GaaS route isn't something to be worried about. As long as they keep giving us their top notch first party titles I'll be happy, they can try their hand at GaaS or turning their IPs into movies/shows or even enter the EV industry for all I care.

Only ones bothered should be competitors already trying to enter the games as a service business, which explains the khujli some bots are feeling here :P

It's FUD as usual. There's no set template for what a GaaS title is. The next sony Gaas title is releasing next month and people might not even know what it is. Even games like AC and dreams can be considered as a GaaS title.

Bullshit.  Respawn weren't generating that revenue at the time of acquisition AFAIK.
