Joy
i err... i did not know that, ok, what i want to know is when in combat does your player stay rooted to one spot when you give commands ? i saw my cousin play ff X13 and that was there. I dont like the chess type combat where you give inputs and the player attacks on its own with a pre set animation. i know i am not wording it properly :| Lol that is Final Fantasy , u can move ur character all u want in non combat mode , but in combat u stay rooted and its all quick inputs as u said , but this one looks like u may have real time movement even while combat which wasn't the case in previous FF I have played , both IX and XIII. You could move anywhere (even out of the battle and flee) in FFXII, and the combat was wait based.....closest comparison would be KOTOR. Doesn't means much though cause the game was cow dung. Noctis
Please don't bring the FFXII debate into this thread again. /in before O&E
Nemo
To make it simple, you move your character around freely and fight in real time. The chess like combat you mentioned usually feature in srpgs, the ATBs in jrpgs and real time combat in Action rpgs. Technically speaking that's how it works for every game...you press a button and the character will perform a set of pre-determine action. oho.. you know what i mean listen, what i am trying to say is; ok.. the last i saw ffXIII was when my cousin was playing it, he had a team of 4, a dude, 2-3 girls. he came across a big monster, all 4 surrounded it. He tapped X, one of the party member jumped and performed some moves and then went back to his/her spot, rinse and repeat. He then did some special move and the dude in his party got 2 nymph like things summoned who transformed into a bike and then he rode it and did a wheelie over the boss/monster, all by own and then jumped back to his spot, my brother was not controlling it, he was just pressing X and maybe one more button and the games was doing the things on its own. I prefer a game where my controlled characters are on the move and there is some degree of manual control over the offense. playstationdude
So is the combat system like Kingdom hearts where you could control your character in battle(movements, attack, etc)?
Noctis
So is the combat system like Kingdom hearts where you could control your character in battle(movements, attack, etc)? Just watch the trailer. You would understand since you are familiar with KH games. And nemo, its FFXIII you are talking about not FFXII. Also yeah, jrpgs typically have a command battle system. Shadoken
^^ I get what you are trying to say ... and if these guys are saying its exactly like KH ... then it is real time combat ... which is what you were looking for... you can move and theres a jump and attack button...and some neat combos.... playstationdude
IMO they should have just combined the paradigm system from FF13 with combat system of KH and we would have had an epic battle system. But this is good enough too. Edited January 19, 2011 by playstationdude
CarbonCore
Dunno about KH (haven't played it), but combat looks a lot like Crisis Core. In fact, I remember them saying few years ago that XIII's combat will be similar to FFX, but faster, while Versus will follow Crisis Core's hybrid action-rpg style. Noctis
Crisis core still uses a command based combat structure. KH's combat is proper real time, which is what is seen here. Nomura had said so in his recent interviews as well.

Dude If you are even remotely interested in action rpgs you should play it(atleast KH1).KH2 is pretty good too but KH1 was totally epic It any other action jrpg out there(IMO).
