GeraltOfRivia
Square Enix will release A King’s Tale: Final Fantasy XV, a side-scroller previously exclusive to those who pre-ordered Final Fantasy XV at GameStop, as a free download for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on March 1. Taking place in a fictitious 30 years before FINAL FANTASY XV, this game features retro-style inspired graphics centered around a fast-paced combat system with influences from modern gaming. The in-depth combat system blends intense attacks, devastating magic, mighty summons and unique companion attacks into a singular gaming experience through three diverse locations in the world of FINAL FANTASY XV. • Deep Combat System – Combos, counters, and Regis' signature "Warp Strike" combine for lightning fast real-time combat that rewards fast reflexes and smart tactics. • Magic - Ignite the battlefield, freeze your enemies, or electrify your foes with Fire, Ice, and Lightning magic. • Companions - Three distinct companions offer unique and new ways to attack as well as tailored super moves that deal massive damage. • Summons - Call upon epic Astral entities to decimate your foes in jaw-dropping ways. http://www.finalfantasyxv.com/en/kingstale
playstationdude
Visuals are fantastic! Combat is really cool once you get the hang of it. Chapter 1 was more filler to level up, is what I feel. Also I have a feeling this game demands a lot of grinding(side quests) to sufficiently progress and level up.
Heaven Angel
What sucks is 95% of the side quests are fetch quests. It gets really snoozefest after few hours.
playstationdude
Yup. And grinding is necessary to level up and upgrade weapons. I am enjoying the combat though. I do, however, find the spell system ridiculous. I need to craft them and use them like regular items. The result is that I have been using spells extremely rarely even though the crux of FF games has always been magic. :/ Visuals are fantastic though. playstationdude
One thing is for sure, SE have been successful in creating a fantastic world. Every time I play this game I get captivated by and sucked into the environment and am completely immersed in the world.
playstationdude
Reached chapter 6. The more I get deeper into the game the more I realise why fans criticized this. They have made summons f**king random. All sidequests are fetch quests but they are the only way to get exp
playstationdude
Man! I'm really loving this game now. Once I levelled enough and stopped doing side quests the main story progression is really cool. On chapter 13 (midway of it)now and really enjoying it so far. I also retract what I said about the spells- the use of spells as items isn't stupid. This game does not require much use of spells unless you wish to quickly end the battle. I have 8 flasks to store magic so far, with each flask having 3-7 spells. I have most of them unused so far. Really didn't need them unless ambushed by hordes or fighting an OP enemy. Heaven Angel
At what level you stopped bothering with side quests?

I'm at level 45 now I stopped sidequests completely at level 40 though above level 32-33 you can stop sidequests without much issue. Actually, to enjoy it completely I would say keep your level not more than 1 or 2 levels above the main story quest requirement(it does mention recommended level). I was way overpowered from the begining(owing to a large number of sidequests) and was actually two shot killing some bosses. No fun there. Brotip- Magitek exosuits are now available in the game. My advice is to use it only when you are in a pinch in some boss fight. It's basically God mode armour that makes you invincible for 30 mins each day. Big Boss
Was the frame pacing issue fixed on Pro? I stopped playing because of that. Japanese devs and their frame pacing issues are annoying. Even Prey has it, so I stopped playing that.

That does occur occassionaly, once even happened in a boss fight, but wasn't a deal breaker. There are noticeable texture pop ins though. Also delay in picking up items. But all in all I did not find it distracting enough to stop playing. Edited August 4, 2017 by Playstationdude
Heaven Angel
Thanks. Doing the side fetch quests for that long sounds tedious though. What's the max level? Do you need to get back to side fetch quests later if you want to level up?

You can progress with the experience provided by the main story. If you want better upgrades/overpowered character then you might have to grind more. Honestly, at level 45 I feel my character is overpowered for the main story. A couple of levels above the recommended for the story is just enough.
playstationdude
FIinished it! What a fantastic game. Loved it. You just need to get over the side(fetch ) quests and the main story does not disappoint. All those long road trips made for so much emotional connect with the characters. What a sad ending though. Was hoping for Luna to be revived somehow, but here got another shock with Noctis' death. That campfire scene at the end along with the sad music Edited August 4, 2017 by Playstationdude
Heaven Angel
So soon? How long did it take?
playstationdude
37 minutes ago, Joe Cool said: So soon? How long did it take? Around 38 hours. Didn't do optional dungeons nor all the sidequests. If you keep doing all sidequests and all dungeons it will last you about 100hours. To be honest I found the length good enough.10 more hours to flesh out the story more would have helped and added to the experience, but no issue as such. Heaven Angel
Nice. 38 hours is good enough indeed. Would have been a lot better if the side quests were more than just fetch stuff, I guess. Upcoming co-op DLC: The Comrades expansion is a cooperative multiplayer mode for the previously single-player RPG. Players will be able to create and customize their own avatar and take on quests with up to three other players. The full version will offer a wide variety of new weapons, attack patterns, sigils, quests, and more, but only a small sampling will be available to try in the closed beta. You can read more about what content is included in the beta on the game's website. -official
Big Boss
The dungeons are really good from the videos I have seen. I will continue this game once I beat all Zelda botw shrines.
WhiteWolf
Comrades multiplayer DLC standalone or main game required? ? Looks quite big and fun . If it's standalone then I will try coz iam not interested in story stuff. Edited August 5, 2017 by WhiteWolf
Heaven Angel
BETA doesn't require but the final release will. Requires: FINAL FANTASY XV and purchase of either MULTIPLAYER EXPANSION: COMRADES or Season Pass. Explore quests with storylines as well as single player quests. Join up to three other players online, or fight alongside three AI companions.
