With leaps in technology and hardware that allow us to push the limits of the visual fidelity and interactivity, we’re thrilled to announce this complete remake of The Last of Us, releasing September 2, 2022 for the PlayStation 5 console and in development for PC.

We’ve implemented modernized gameplay, improved controls, and expanded accessibility options in this single-player experience to allow even more individuals to enjoy the game. Effects, exploration, and combat have all been enhanced. Leveraging the PS5’s powerful hardware, we also implemented 3D Audio*, haptics, and adaptive triggers. Both returning fans and new players alike will have the opportunity to experience both The Last of Us Part I and its prequel story Left Behind in a whole new way.

New director team. Shaun was creative director on LL and Avengers SP.

Comparison. All cutscenes in original game were pre rendered CGI.

Yeah, Lou cutscenes were pre rendered, the gameplay shots comparison shows the difference and it's a massive leap.

This seems to be using the TLOU2 engine + whatever assets from TLOU2 with some changes.

Good for people who haven't played the OG, I mean last gen was dominated by PS4 but still.

I wonder why one of their editions doesn’t carry a 4k enhancer for LOU2?

It's not aged tbh, asking same actors to mocap for remake be like :giggle:

What about asking your customer's to pay 70$ :P

Anyway this game is definitely better than a remaster but won't call it a proper remake.

How's is it a proper remake if they are using voice acting and mo-cap performance from the first game?

How does re-doing mo-cap and voice preserve the original experience of the game? :P

It’ll ruin it coz no actor can perform or do voice the same way for a 2nd time.

Visuals are the only thing that can be upgraded.

The performance capture & VA of the game is the best in the business. Why would they change it?  MGS 1 remake tried changing both the VA and cutscenes and both ended up with laughable results as it coudnt match up with the iconic original.

I am not saying they should re do it cause yeah there's a chance it could ruin the original experience .

But for a game to be called a proper remake everything has to be built from the ground up - from scratch - not using anything from the old game. Hence the opinion it's not a full remake but between a remaster and a remake .
