Several users claimed after the Memorial Day weekend in which Epic Games ran the "Old School" event, Gears of War 2 started to experience issues with Matchmaking similar to those that affected the game right after launch. This time, it's not Epic Games' fault: Our investigations have shown that the reported issue has to do with a very small minority of players with very poor network connections. When they attempt to host a matchmaking party, they are not able to find matches due to their high network latency. We could increase the ping threshold to allow these players to host but it would have an overall negative effect on the global Gears 2 community as they would begin finding games with greater latency. So while this isn't ideal for a tiny minority of players, it is much better overall for the majority of players. For the players that have this issue, the easiest answer is simply to join another player’s matchmaking party instead of trying to host one themselves. In terms of when this began, we’ve been making continuous optimizations to the matchmaking experience, and the perceived timing of recent changes with the "Old School" weekend is purely coincidental. This whole thing may seem unfair to us, but one has to really think about the fact that majority of the Gears 2 community(Europe and the Americas) has infact welcomed the change with open arms. So, in other words, it doesn't seem like EPIC are going to revert everything back to how it was earlier. Again, no denying that it's super sad news for us, but in all fairness, we have to remember that at the end of the day, Gears of War 2 is an interactive software product and EPIC is not running a charity. Infact, if I were Rod Fergusson, I would have done the same. But the truth is that I'm not, so f**k YOU EPIC ! Seriously, it's just business, nothing more. Javs Posted June 26, 2009 Report Share Posted June 26, 2009 Chill out you greek god wannabe , or maybe its high time you switched back to private ? oh btw Rakhi Sawant > Rod Ferguson , anyday. yo, i think you need a chill-pill.... firstly he has every right to get upset. why wont he get upset when he cant play public matches??? just like me he has also paid 2500 for a LE of this game + 1000 for both snowblind and combustible maps. maybe you dont know but there are a lot of upset people out there with this broken game, and your suggestion to play private, let me tell you a few reasons...... maybe he wants to play on the other maps, maybe he wants to play guardian or annex or maybe he wants to play horde? maybe he wants to play at 7am in the morning when there is no one online? all people play in private matches is execution and sniper battles unfortunately and it gets so boring after a few minutes playing the same group of friends? this game came with an option with playing both public and private matches, so its upto him to play what he wants and I am not satisfied with an answer that if it doesnt work, i should adapt and play private matches. you are not proving a point by giving an example rakhi sawant>rod fergusson, lol.....couldnt u come up with something better? thats so stupid, they got no relevance... if you said bungie or activision or rockstar > rod (epic) i would probably accept it........but u didnt so fail Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
