Sweet. If all goes well Lost Odyssey won't be the next-gen RPG of the year (Vesperia doesn't count, it didn't release in PAL territories).

Ummm..... you mean Tales will never release in PAL territories?

PS: Can someone explain what this NTSC and PAL business is all about with games, technically? As far as I know, its just two diffrent viewing frequencies. Shouldn't take much effor to release PAL and NTSC both, right?

Tales is getting a PAL release in 2009 IIRC.

You see, for the European territories, each game gets its own regional language translation, like German, French, Spanish etc, so generally developers tend to release the Japanese and American versions first and then work towards releasing the European versions at leisure. You can imagine the frustration of gamers in Europe.

How long does it take to translate stuff? At least, in web applications, translation work is done by another team parallely with the developers so that we can test out the multi-lingual functionalities without delays.

Oh stop whining. It's not as if the 360 RPG stuff is of the highest pedigree anyway.

Forgive me, O noble and mighty one. It seems that the failiure of PA to deliver has disconcerted me to a great degree.

By the way, how many have raised their hands for Valkyria Chronicles?

game informer review

BOTTOM LINE: 7

>Concept: The Last Remnant introduces larger scale multi-party combat to the RPG genre. Overall, however, the results are mixed

>Graphics: Unlike some Square Enix titles, the cutscenes use the in-game graphics engine (Unreal Engine 3) and show some popping in of textures

>Sound: Studio musician metal guitar riffage runs roughshod over the game. This is unfortunate, but it does suit the often hammed-up dialogue

>Playability: Timed-button presses for both offense and defense break up the turn-based attacks

>Entertainment: This game's attempt at RPG innovation doesn't hit the bull's eye, and the rest of the game - while solid - doesn't distinguish itself enough

>Replay Value: Moderate

SECOND OPINION: 6

Oh well - one more where I will wait till it hits the rubbish bins - not that I have any money left after this season's goodies.

Also, Famitsu is generally a tough reviewer - but are they going soft, or going the Gamespot way?
