Karooo
Seriously? Of all people, you would know how bad a port it is. The console version runs at sub-30fps. Even though it isn't optimised for the PC, a simple Cor2duo based PC is enough to outperform the console versions through sheer brute force. Big Boss
Yeah, I can play Darksiders with a laptop AMD Dual Core and 4650 just fine on whatever settings (there are none IIRC) at 1366x768 and get constant 30 fps.

playstation
I havent heard any major complaints about Darksiders port. Are you sure you arent confusing it with some other game? @afty, i have tried both console and pc version ....both plays nice and pc version is slightly better only...and i played it with xbox 360 controller ....i have had no issues till now...enjoyed it but the game test your patience a lot sometimes...so i gave up... b!T
It ain't 14 gigs. It shows 9.8 gigs for me. Any hidden updates??
spindoctor
It's not a bad port. It may not have all the fancy settings, but it looks better than the console versions, runs better, and just fine with the controller. dude even the crappiest ports can manage to do that through sheer brute force power of the pc. lack of any options and needing to use a controller are 2 of the signs of a port that's not very well done. and this game only has 2 - vsync on/off and resolution. nothing else at all. i definitely wouldn't put this in the list of good ports. Bulovski
It ain't 14 gigs. It shows 9.8 gigs for me. Any hidden updates?? No - you download 10 gigs and it uncompresses to take up 14 gigs. Same with other games e.g. Magicka is a download of 700+ mg, but takes up a gig on the hdd.

I don't know who spreads rumors like these. I played the whole game on PC with kb+mouse and it worked pretty fine. You don't need any controller. Maybe having a controller will ease your life as its hack/slash/platformer, but its not that without a controller the game is not playable. Far from it, I hardly had any issues with kb+mouse. theneurotoxin
Torchlight 2 is out this month, right?
Aftrunner
Torchlight 2 is kinda fun if brainless and repetitive. Think of it as the Serious Sam/Painkiller of RPGs. Personally I would go for Defense Grid over that. Brilliant game esp if you like Tower Defense type games. But still 5 bucks for 2 excellent games is a steal anyway you look at it. Edit That MW 2 price is typical Acti bullshit. A game that will be 2 iterations behind in a couple of months is still about 15 bucks too expensive. Its like discounting AC1 to 20 USD. Tyler
Torchlight is pretty cool. But TL2 is just around the corner... Lot of good stuff on sale today. Unfortunately already have most of the titles I'm interested in. Also, having played Darksiders on both PC and console I can safely say that the PC version is the best. Aftrunner
Oh for craps sakes. New update for Homefront is out as well. 800+ MB. I am guessing its the two new free MP maps. So now on my download queue is 1GB for Magicka, 1GB for Homefront, 10GB for Darksiders and I had just started the download for TF2 a couple of days ago so thats another 10 GB. spindoctor
I don't know who spreads rumors like these. I played the whole game on PC with kb+mouse and it worked pretty fine. You don't need any controller. Maybe having a controller will ease your life as its hack/slash/platformer, but its not that without a controller the game is not playable. Far from it, I hardly had any issues with kb+mouse. my point is that if you can say "you should play this with a controller" for a pc game, that's not something the developer should be particularly proud of. I don't get why you would even play a hack n slash with kb/mouse. And a bad port IMO is like GTA4 (at launch atleast) which is terribly unoptimized. If you can play the game fine and if it looks good and runs fine, how can that be bad? what if the next console racing game (like forza) came out and it had fantastic support for wheels only but the control scheme for a controller is very haphazardly done? would you say, "hey, you should play racing games with a wheel anyway, so it doesn't really matter?". it doesn't work like that, the developer should give good support for the primary input method of any platform. 3rd person, action, hack and slash is not some mystical voodoo gametype that can't be done or has never been done properly before on the mouse + kb. it needs to be implemented correctly, that's all. as for looking 'good' and running 'fine', those are fairly subjective terms. the developer obviously thought his game 'looked good' and 'ran fine' when he released the console version at 540p running at 26fps. beating that isn't something to write home about. the pc has a lot more power and good ports harness that. stuff like ao, af, aa, texture quality, draw distance, fov, lighting and shadow quality, post processing effects, stereo 3d support, multi monitor support etc. are all things that developers who make good ports consider. i can understand why a developer would not want to do that on the pc platform these days, but then let's not pretend that the game they put out was a good port. especially not when all you could do is change your resolution and enable/disable vsync. that's like the bare minimum you can get away with.
