spindoctor
all mmos have free trials, you should check them out first. rift, wow or whatever... they let you play for a certain number of days or until a certain level or something. buying guild wars blind isn't something i'd recommend. especially since i don't even consider it an mmo. and it's popularity is much less than wow and probably rift right now too. other stuff to try includes lotr online which is free to play and age of conan which is also free to play. hope you have a decent internet connection, these games usually start at 10-15gb and go up to 30gb in size.
Noctis
Agreed, guild wars isn't a good choice for someone who wants to try out the genre. Try LOTRO instead.
Tyler
For those on the fence, let me make it easier for you.. http://steamcommunity.com/id/PsychoBoyTyler/screenshots The game looks even prettier in motion.
kemosabe
Price wise, Guild war is a very safe entry to MMO/MMORPG, the best thing you only need to buy the game , no subscription fee,so you can go slow, take your time while learning the game and even the various basic things of MMO/MMORPG ( MMO/MMRPG get to bit boring after a certian period so you need to take break a while in between),,if you get bored, you can take break and return at any time without worrying much about monthly subscription..Graphics wise Guild War is last generation- so you can even play it you lappy also !! Guild War is amazing and ground breaking ,it give a MMO/MMORPG a different direction, may be MMO/MMORPG purist dont like it due to lesser content in compare to WOW, but its good for what you payed for and kind of an wild card for MMO/MMRPG noobie like me..I am yet to try other F2P games like age of conan( avoided till now due to huge download size - but graphics is amazing) or LOTRO - dont know about it yet- will check it out once I done with GW .. spindoctor
guild wars isn't even a real mmo. it's a single player/co-op rpg with an online quest/pvp hub. plus it has some truly absurd design decisions. the fact that your character can't even jump up 3 inches in the game is bad enough. this is made infinitely worse when the level designers put in 3 inch high 'walls' all over the map which means you have to walk all the way around them just to move forward. i have walked 3 minutes around such pathways to move a distance which would take 3 seconds if i could just walk forward or jump. it's ridiculous. guild wars is okay, and it's worth getting on sale sure. the no subscription thing is nice but the fact is you really do get what you pay for... a measly level cap of 20, a fraction of the content a real mmo like wow has and not a real mmo either. the shared experience of playing in a persistent world is a large part of the appeal of an mmo game. spindoctor
you don't have to buy a sub to continue. but level 20 is the cap after which you can't level up any further. you'll eventually run out of content and the only thing left to do will be pvp (you earn skill points in lieu of level ups after 20). spindoctor
till when in indian time ? says on the site - Promotion ends Friday 09:00 GMT or until stock lasts. and honestly, at this price, i'm betting stocks run out first. for europeans (their primary market), this is basically 75% off their regular price. they are going to jump on this deal. buy it asap if you want it.
