Heavy Rain

Been playing the demo for quite a long time now. My impressions:

The crime scene investigation is

all about you just walking around looking for clues and it can get boring if there are a lot of scenes like that. And the goggles are

 I did get very irritated when

you had to climb up the slope and you had to hold two buttons each time while letting go of one of the previous buttons and it took me a few tries to get to the top of the hill.

I didn't see any scope of multiple outcomes in this scene.

The Sleazy place on the other hand has a few different outcomes. Depending on what choices you make you can get your character hurt or get a flawless victory  If you don't make the right choices you

might end up with no information on Johnny at all. The timer goes off and she'll ask you to go away if it's past 10 minutes. Or you could talk to her and make her cry and get all the info you want.

btw, I tried

just standing at the door without even going near her after she started the timer and waited 10 minutes and the timer didn't go off :chair:

I'm curious about the long term effects on the outcome. Like,

If I don't leave my card on the table, will I not be getting a call from Lauren about some useful info ? or, will me beating up her client make him come back and try to kill me some other time ?

The controls are fine except for the walking. I don't see much sense in having to press R2 to walk and RS to choose direction. The graphics are good with nice beautiful menus and the facial textures looking great (except for Lauren whose face doesn't look that great )

btw, the pacing is frantic during fights and you barely get to see the actual action since you are concentrating so much on the button prompts

Played the Demo once..... I must say i am impressed... infact very impressed..

Heavy Rain is simply a breeze of fresh air.... Something different, something unique and I honestly love that kind of stuff.... looks like a really good interactive game, gfx looks very polished... :chair: . but I'm skeptical how the controls will work out.

demo was too short.. very hard to judge the game from the demo... i really enjoyed more than i thought i would to be honest... and also the story seems to be quite interesting...

cant wait for the release now and oh yeah day one buy for me

Amazing demo, played it a few times, doing different stuff all the time. Since this was just a limited demo, I have no idea how you action/choices will effect the course game but doing different stuff did result it different reactions.

The context sensitive actions did feel natural after the first couple of minutes and even holding down R2 to walk didn't feel awkward. They have also used it very cleverly for actions where the ingame character would have difficulty performing certain stuff. Another cool touch is the character talking to himself which is also the ingame objective/hint system. The QTE's also worked much much better than the 'simon says' sh*t from indigo prophecy and instead of some random button hoping in the middle of the screen, the QTE'S are connected to your actions.

graphically, its amazing. The atmosphere they have built up is unmatched, character models and the game world are extremely well detailed and the framerate is pretty solid too. The image quality is great but the image integrity takes some hit occasionally. The voice acting is actually decent, I had no hopes from it after watching the videos but it ended up being okay if a bit inconsistent, I think david cage being a non native english speaker hurt it more than anything.

This way day 1 before playing the demo and its still day 1 for me. Its also the closest thing to next gen shenmue so yeah... Feb 23rd can't come soon enough

Finally, someone who shared the same pain I had :|

Yes, after character performing an action it feels like the action was related to the way you pressed keys, especially for actions like pulling the handbrake, opening a door. I felt that even in IP...

I just loved the demo......... :scratchchin:

The different choices that are available are totally awesome......... And I tried almost all the possibilities of the first scene........

For example, in my first try, I got the info from Lauren, I beat up her client and gave her the card aswell.......... But, in my second try, I didn't keep the cash on the table, while talking to her, I selected the 'Buy' option and that was it....... She refused to give out any info at all....... And after I saw her client turning up, I still didn't go back and save her........ There was an option to 'Leave' and i did just that........

But I would like to mention one thing though......

If you start the fighting sequence, there is no difference in the final outcome........ If you beat him, or if he beats you, he'll just walk away........ So that was a bit disappointing......... Maybe, there will be some long-term effects later on in the game which might amaze me more.......

I was just amazed by the difference in my first two tries........ Imagine a full game like this........ The replay value of the full-game will be enormous........

The controls, for me, are just fine........ I don't think it was difficult in any place.......

I loved the part where we have to press and hold different buttons until it disappears from the screen......... And I think that's totally fine........ The thing that I've noticed is that the easy tasks like 'opening doors', 'removing something from the pockets', etc. have easy button/analog combinations........ But the 'press-and-hold' five different buttons are only for the hard-to-reach objects/places........

I must say, that is really impressive........ Because I, as the player, felt that the task that my character was doing is difficult..........

All in all, I loved the demo a lot......... I've been waiting for this game for the past two years and I'm not disappointed at all........ Nice work QD........ :P

sometimes

after you ask her a few questions the timer will ring and she'll ask you to go away because time's up.

Ummm...... It was about the QTE section not the context sensitive action.

coming down that damn slope safely is much harder than going up..I mean first u've to press R2+L1 and then all of a sudden it changes to R1+l1 or some other such thing...i was not able to come down that slope with out falling down even once...

:ko:

you just have to go to the edge of the hill and

then press Down for him to start walking down. You don't need to press and hold R2. You need to keep tapping R1 and L1 alternatively for him to get down the first two intervals and the third one to the bottom, you will have to press R2 and L1

. It aint that bad

@parth.... what investigation did you do ? you found the coffee machine and went home ? :P go investigate again. I thought the game wouldn't let us leave the place unless we found the

tire tracks and stuff

okay this sucks, downloaded the game, tried to install it,the installation fails at 14%,it gives some 80029564 error. Tried to redownload the file, same problem, trie d a hard reset, still doesnt work. This realy does suck,Iw anted to play this so badly. Think this probably has something to do with the power going off in the middle of the download. The only thing left is for me to do a format of the hardisk.

^^ If power goes off while downloading, there's a high chance that the downloaded game/demo might not work. So, you might wanna download the demo again. It shud work. There's no need to format the hdd
