I really don’t understand what was the point of making this one Cross-Gen when it had to be scaled back in size & scope significantly from Mythological RPG trilogy.

Looks like a step backwards when there is no significant technical or visual improvements which only a True Next Gen would have achieved.

Ubisoft is on a major downhill it seems.

This game was never meant to be a technical or truly next-gen game. After spending loads on the last 2 bloated entries, this game was meant to be smaller/more contained entry. From that perspective, it is fine that it is cross-gen.

I always marvel at what Ubisoft manages to put together in their Assassins Games. The minute details kinda gives you a time travel like escapism if you have a good sound system or headphones and get lost in their worlds. Not the best of stories or combat but the world is really amazing.

A smaller more contained entry should be a major step ahead technically & visually IMO.

Kinda like how Unity was in comparison to Black Flag.

But this one isn’t so far of what I have seen.

It’s like going back to Unity (with a lot more polish obviously).

A next gen only would have been a better idea IMO.

This game was originally meant to be a DLC for Assassin's Creed Valhalla. They just expanded a bit on that and are selling it as a separate game. So this game was always cross-gen - because it's root is Valhalla, which is a cross gen game. It's why they're selling it for a lesser price as well, compared to brand new AC Games. I expect the true next-gen AC game will be the next true AC Game which is AC Red (The game set in Japan).

Yeah I guess so.

No matter which franchise/studio you look at….Next Gen has been pushed & Crossgen DLC has been turned into a stand-alone.

Apart From FF16,Starfield & Spider-Man 2….not a single high budget Next Gen title & we are almost halfway through.

There are smaller games.

Remnant 2, Alan Wake 2 ... etc.

Remnant 2 is what I have played, looks amazing. Open world UE5 games will be something else.

Cross gen games can also look amazing. Cyberpunk 2077, Horizon Forbidden West example. They don't have image stability like UE5 games but make up in other areas.

There are too many previous gen consoles out there to ignore the market entirely. Sony released some next gen only games in their 1st year - like Demon's Souls Remake, Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart and Returnal, but even they found it made less economic sense, so they switched back to cross-gen - and Sony is in the business to ensure that more PS5 units are sold. Otherwise Horizon 2 was originally meant to be a next-gen only game.

I think the only reason Spiderman 2 is even next-gen only is because they could not find a way to work in the 2 character switching on the previous gen. Because if we ignore the 2 character switching - then the game might as well be a cross-gen DLC like Miles Morales and there will be little differentiating factor between the 1st Spiderman Game(s) and Spiderman 2 - which will hit the franchise negatively. They would have made this Cross-gen also otherwise.

When I say small, i mean in terms of budget as well.
