RDR2 story and characters were better but Shadows beats RDR2 in terms of gameplay and open world design.

But RDR2 random strangers were way better. Also lack of predators or hunting makes the open world a missed opportunity in Shadows. Were there no predators in Japan like crocodile, snakes, wolves etc?

Yeah wildlife and random encounters not as impressive, but Shadows open world way more fun to navigate.

Keep playing the game.

Based on which season active, while exploring, you will see painting icon on mini map. Slowly observe the animals and complete the mini game.

Started this. Haven't progressed much but the physics has improved I believe. Need to see whether it is typical AC or something changed as some of you have observed.

Looks like it didn't help much. Tencent now owns 25% of ubisoft's new gaming subsidiary company which has all major IPs.

Soon Tencent will turn these into Mobile franchises & the beloved AAA titles we knew will be gone.

But why do we care….let the corporates care about revenues.

They own 16% of From Software, 30% of Baldur's gate 3 devloper, 14% of Remedy and have good % stake in many popular gaming studios. They own 40% of epic games too.

So AAA IPs will be fine.

Also since this new company is only having AC, Rainbow Six and far cry, hopefully we will get proper Prince of Persia and Splinter cell games from original Ubisoft.

Ubisoft basically sold 25% of their 3 big IPs to stay afloat.

They are just starting at 25%

Who knows where it’ll end looking at the current state of Ubisoft.

Also We all know what Epic Did with it’s revered AAA franchises like Gears & UnrealT.

Ya hope for the best.

Also since they sold their big franchises so immediately after release, then this game becoming a huge financial success or not didn't matter anyways it seems.

Anyways I hope they milk this open world to the fullest. I won't mind a fantasy game set in this open world. Currently it feels so empty even though it's dense. Vast areas with nothing to do apart from some enemy camps and some side activities. Lack of hunting really makes the game feel empty. Imagine game like Witcher 3 in this world. Damn it would be so good. Also even Far Cry game in this type of map will be epic. Like far cry primal.

They fully well know before hand going by the pre-orders & Q&A where it’ll land.

They must have been in the negotiations already before release & waiting to see final week one results to take the final call.

This sold better than past AC games or else it could have been a higher percentage sold at the same price!!

This, as far as they're making proper single player gaming experiences, I don't mind then owning. Ubisoft learned the hard way, make games like AC Shadows and people will buy their games. They had so much potential with Star Wars but they kept ruining it.

After AC shadows I think their heads are clear.

Leaked Ubisoft email says the pandemic is why ‘Assassin's Creed Valhalla’ outsold Shadows on launch day, per IGN

“It was a perfect storm we may never see again”

One other major difference is that Valhalla released for Google Stadia on day 1, which I can only assume is why it sold more.
