A must read, specially for the young minds there.

Nice article, especially in current times. It was like reading my own mind a bit. :P

The problem for paying lots of cash for stuff we don't need as well as paying more than necessary for what we do need is omnipresent. And people blame the "IT culture" as they call it whence young people got cash quick and easy. In recent times, there was some debate on a local TV channel where there's this guy who got laid off recently, after leaving college and working in said company for just about a year and a half. He blames the IT company (I agree on that one) and asks "Where will I get the money to pay off the loans on my new Verna, apartment, and another personal loan I took??? Will the company answer?"

I totally disagree on his question though, cos its like saying the company is responsible for this, where as he should have been much more careful with his finances, instead of splurging on so much within just one or two years without actually having the cash already to pay it off. Just like what Americans do, buy lots of stuff and then worry about it later. Then they lose their homes and what not. People who earn without there being any real "financial education" in them just raise prices of goods and services for others as well, take the auto-rickshaws (here in Chennai atleast). These buggers charge you double the rate cos they know that there'll be some guy who earns a lot and has no financial sense and who'll pay them whatever they ask without bargaining.

And there's this relative of mine (a distant cousin) that sent me an email about how real estate prices are booming cos "IT and BPO and call centre people" are buying the land at the rates put up without any questions or bargaining. And she went on to say "You'll be an IT guy one day, so that includes your kind too".... I really gave her a piece of my mind. :) I mean why do people immediately assume that every engineering student (I'm gonna be in my 3rd year of BE Electronics in another month), wants to work only in the IT industry, or that his / her only interest is money??? :P
