Solitaire
Hey Rajasekar, when did you receive this call, 'after a few days of taking the connection or after a couple of months' BTW which plan are you using ATM... i will confirm the info again. I've been on Tata Indicom's prepaid connections (I keep changing plans each time I renew but its always an unlimited plan I get) for 3 years or more now. About 3-4 months ago (was on 512kbps unlimited), I got a call that said "Sir we've noticed some heavy traffic on your internet account, would you consider upgrading to a higher plan?" And then he uttered the words "Fair Usage". My dad attended the call, and he gave the guy who called a mouthful, but that guy was unapologetic, he just said that its now part of the policy to cut the connection if you exceed the FUP limit more than once. :/ After that I've been monitoring my downloads rather carefully. Right now I got downgraded to a stupid 256kbps unlimited plan for no fault of mine. Tried choosing the 256kbps with 4x Night Booster plan. After entering CC details and all that, the next day it showed my renewal queue with two 4x night booster orders (256kbps / 1mbps) both with "Authorization pending (No info from bank)" and a 256 kbps unlimited plan ordered and APPROVED.. I was like WTF!!! and called up the Customer service and complained that I'd never ordered the 256kbps plan. They were apologetic, but said that "We can't do anything now sir, the plan is in your queue and its already active. Perhaps someone could have got your password" (Yeah, right!). I'd just switch over to Airtel broadband, but then my dad's the one who makes the money, hence he calls the shots. Now, stupid Tata Indicom is giving some awesome postpaid offers for new customers and jizzing over people like me who've been with them and enduring their oppressive ways for a long time. Damn you, Tata!! Edited August 15, 2009 by grajasekar
Shantz
I'll make this simple for you karthik..This is how the listing of major ISPs in India stands in terms of everything including customer service, actual thing vs promises made, etc (worst to best, although no one is best.. its just the "andhon mein kaana raja" thing) 1. Sify 2. Tata 3. Reliance 4. MTNL/BSNL 5. Airtel So, start from the bottom of the list and whatever first is availble to you, take that... Solitaire
I dont know about BSNL being up among the best of the worst, but Tata is certainly among the worse ISPs (I won't say its the worst though)

Solitaire
I JUST GOT ANOTHER CALL FROM TATA INDICOM. A few hours ago. The f**kers told me they'd cut my net connection soon if I didn't upgrade. Seems I'd exceeded 85% of my limit. I asked him then why do you call me when I haven't exceeded 100 pc of my limit. What the fool who called has done is compare my last month's download (around 65gb) to my new limit (45gb since I've downgraded to a 256kbps plan since then). I've downloaded just 4gb this month. This time around I was quite rude with them. Asked him for the facts... and he said he could only tell me this 85% sh*t. Then I gave him some gaali regarding his company's f**ked up policy and told him "Next time you call, I'll take it up with the courts, I've just recorded your conversation with me now." He was like "Sorry Sir, sorry...." and kept the phone without further explanation. Tata indicom is one f**ked up company as far as broadband goes. Any regular internet user who values their downloads, please go with Airtel, just forget Tata ever exists.
