Anything would be better then 64kbps connection and 8 kbps download speed!

but yes you are right i really should take care with that....I think though i dont prefer Reliance, I will go for the same....one of my frns using Hathway was sobbing at their service! I wanted to ask K' regardign this 300kbps connection but he seems busy with his love life at the moment and hasnt come online lately!

@ sam ... iv applied for 3 hathway conxn 2x256 and 1.512 ( for my room) and tht guy promised me 128kbps download speed and 128kbps upload speed .... i dont understand how thts possible as on a 512 conxn one should get bout 70kbps down/up....

- the guy claims tht my area has a lot of bandwidth and less subscribers .... + the local police station uses hathway for their cyber crime branch (which is true) and hence the service is very good .... blah blah....

The problem with a cable connection is that the b/w is shared between subscribers so if number of people increases, the speed will have problem. ADSL on the other hand wont have these problems

not the case with hathway....u get your own cable modem so there is no sharing

Yaa! Sharing modem comes usually when u use and MB based or Hourly based plan! But ur personal speed wont be disturbed no matter that modem has2 or 10 connection, this is my personal observation as I had and MB based plan b4 and my modem was shared with 7 people(GangBang)!

Great news :D

this came in today's newspaper.

How about downloading at 8mbps

Airtel announced on Wed the launch of 8 Mbps broadband internet access, the first telecom operator in India to deliver such speeds. What that means is that is a 700mb files which used take 6 hrs to download on a 256 kbps line, will now only take under 12 mins :)

it won't initially come cheap. Monthly rate will be about Rs. 2000. But broadband rates are gradually coming down. Atul Bindal, president of Bharti Airtel, said a growing number of internet users were browsing multiple windows at a time, also viewing streaming video and playing online games, all of which require massive bandwidth. "The 8Mbps speed will ensure you can do all that without compromising on the performance", he said. It also makes Airtel's network IPTV ready, a service that may be available early next year.

:thumbsup::furious:

The fact is over here, with such speeds on offer, giving unlimited service will just ruin their back-end servers. We all know what we can do with an 8 Mbps connection ;)

For instance (i'm using Sify) and once in a while, i get these sudden speed bursts and my download just jumps from 30 kbps to a whopping 900 kbps - 1 Mbps :shock3:

and i remember in a single afternoon i downloaded 20 gb of stuff and almost reached my rapidshare limit which was 25gb per day.
