Rohan Seth
This was the exact situation of my connection when I got it. The smartbytes page would show nothing, I'd get no sms/email notification of usage. At this point, my userid was simple number_kk format. I suggest you keep it that way, Koldy. See if FUP kicks in. My guess is that it won't. So if I remove the "@airtelbroadband.in" from my modem settings my FUP will be stuck at 3gb? How is that possible? piper
The steps are simple, the outcome is binary (either it works or it doesn't). Despite that, folks are repeatedly asking the procedure and otherwise making comments like "How is that possible? Is the IQ level of youngsters dropping with every passing year? Elessar
Hi, is the Airtel FUP workaround working for anyone in Mumbai ? Is it location specific/router specific or just random ? I tried it yesterday and my net stops working afterwards if anyone has more suggestions on making it work, let me know.
piper
Probably they have enforced username check for some areas/users. I doubt you can get it to work now.
Rohan Seth
A really weird thing happened today. The router is connected to my PC but DSL number shown is different on it whereas, the DSL number on my laptop(connected through wifi) is still the same and the correct one. So basically my PC is getting 4mb/s speed whereas my laptop and other wifi connected devices are getting 256 kb/s speed.

pinkmonster
So i heard MTNL has started FTTH connections. 10 MBPS starting from Rs. 1000 with around 30 GB (upload+download). Also, can anyone link me to a software with which I can keep a track of how much data usage i am doing with my internet. I have a 1 mbps unlimited plan by mtnl and was wanting to upgrade. With FUP everywhere I have to see which plan would suit me best.

Heaven Angel
^^It should work with all plans. What I meant was,get any Airtel plan, do the FUP trick and enjoy, Edited June 13, 2013 by Heaven Angel
dranjithk
Sounds good. Also, I'm planning to use the same router/modem I'm using for the BSNL connection now. My guess is that the router/modem plays no role in the FUP trick, aye?
Heaven Angel
FUP trick didn't work for me with wi-fi connected. No idea why, internet just doesn't load. So I removed wi-fi and everything is fine now.
