TAZ
These are the speed test of the airtel 4G demo.. Only thing pulling me back is the FUP (40 gb).. Also the fact that its basically a phone internet So can't be that much reliable compared to Broadband & those dish internets these days.. Params7
Nextra is excellent. I was using Airtel previously and was quite sick of their service frankly. I had a 4 mbps connection but most of the time speed was no where near what they claimed. Nextra is FTTH and their customer support is very good too. Plus If anyone wants I can refer you to them and they would contact you themselves. That would also double my speed for 2-3 months as per their referral offer Have been using Nextra for almost a year now. Here is the speedtest I did just now. My plan is 10 mbps 80gb FUP. Check their website for all the plans. They offer upto 100 mbps plans and the speeds are actually what they claim. No BS like airtel etc. Post fup speed is 512 kbps. On their website, I see that they cover my area. Its the pings I'm concerned about and looks like Nextra is decent here. How is online gaming to servers within India and closeby? Another option i have is the local fiber connection here from the cablewallah. I'll check both tomorrow.

_Krypton_
Congrats TAZ . Also pings improve after 1-2 months of usage . Atleast that happens with me whenever i switch to a new isp . Reliance was 400ms when i got it installed . Came down down to 250 within the first two weeks . Gives me a 100 now !

piper
Thinking of opting for higher FUP plan in Airtel. Rs. 2299 for 125GB at 8Mbps. Worth it? The connection is great, low pings and near-zero downtime. I could take Tata Docomo instead (Rs. 1500 for 160GB, 8Mbps) but 1. it has just 512kbps upload and I would have to disconnect one (and that'd be a real pain). But why not try other local bangalore Isp's ?? People here are jealous of people in bangalore cos they have great local Isp's
piper
What I need is higher FUP. Am on 60GB currently but I browse the entire month in fear of hitting FUP. Only downloading in the last 3-4 days. Twice the FUP will give me room to breathe.

So you have to either have a plan which has FUP which will end in 20 days or you spend 500 more just for 10-15Gb... Earlier they used to had 50gb FUP plans now they have discontinued. Its good that It has better FUP plans in Bangalore.. After 60GB its 125GB ??
piper
80,125 I'd love a 4Mbps plan, but they want to thrust more bandwidth. The plan I'm taking is for 2299,and corresponding FUP with 4Mbps is 2249. They know how to take money. And in 12 months, they have increased rental twice for my existing plan, each time by 50 bucks. TAZ
Yup airtel knows how to milk money... And they have been increasing the rentals frequently now.. Last they had an increment of 150.. But i think there is some rule or something, They can't imply those increment straight away, If you are using the plan from long time they will start that new rate only after 3 months or something like that, Cos that 150 increment was not applied to me and its been around 3 months since the rates were increased. TAZ
Wait till you see the rentals of Airtel here in NCR / North India. You have it pretty cheap there in Bangalore. +
