Broadband Forum India (BIF) recently responded to the consultation papers floated by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) for updating the definition of minimum internet speed from 512 Kbps to 2 Mbps for a broadband connection. But Bharti Airtel believes that there is no need for updating the definition as of yet. The telecom operator has said that 512 Kbps internet speed is fair for an internet connection to be recognised as wired broadband. The telco has submitted to Trai that the existing definition of wired broadband internet in the country is apt for the time being.

Oh Airtel Airtel Airtel.

Are you getting NAT type 2?

super easy to get Open NAT on Airtel FTTH. All you need to do is put the Airtel Fiber modem in bridge mode and then use your own router for pppoe. I have open nat on both pro and series X. Lemme know if you need any help :)

My connection on Xtreme Fiber is up and running. Everything seems to be in order except the Xbox one X download speed which is only capping out 94Mbps when it's a 200Mbit line. Anyone else with the same issue?

@Chainsaw What's your speed like on the Series X?

Are you using Cloudfare DNS by any chance? I was getting 60-80mbps too.

I changed the DNS to google just on the X and the speeds have shot up to 200mbps. I don’t think MS have upgraded caps for their CDN.

I tried both the Google DNS and the automatic setting too, no dice. What else could I try?

Try opendns ( assuming you’re using Airtel DNS at the router level)

Don’t bother changing it at the router level though. Just try changing on the Xbox directly and make sure to reboot the console before trying a new download. Something’s definitely wrong with cloudfare that much I can say as far as MS CDN goes for India. Shoddy speeds.

I tried Airtel, opendns, google and found google to be the best of the 3 for the Xbox so stuck with that. Otherwise no issues for me at all. Get full pipe as promised on everything else. PRO goes to 600-700mbps which I’m personally ok with. Don’t expect Sony to allow gigabit connection slots per user.

. I went to check feasibility but my building doesn't show up in it what to do next?

Try to get the number of the local area head (not nodal officer). I had to do that and turned out the person I spoke to was extremely cooperative and understanding. He actually stayed true to his word and got the Fiber team to deploy in my complex within 3 months as promised.

Forgot to update, I figured out the issue later. It was the LAN cable which turned out to be CAT5. Switched to CAT5e and got 248Mbps on the connection test. So I'm all set now. :D

Hi, Thank you for your interest in Airtel Xstream Fiber. We regret to inform that our services are not feasible in your area at the moment.

They will say that. If you really want it, contact the local area head and talk to him. If the guy is understanding, he’ll have the Fiber team deploy even if you’re the only interested customer in your society.
