Well this might come as a shock to some, but one of my friends who has a 256kbps airtel connection has been getting a constant 1.3Mbps connection for the past 3 months (i kid you not!). I've been to his place for 2 weeks and not once did the speed drop.

I on the other hand finally got my 1Mbps connection from TATA and it's been working flawlessly so far :naughty:

Lucky bugger. I know sometimes Airtel does that. I used to get 2 Mbps on and off a couple of months back on my 512. Now I dont. I am saaaaaaaad.

Ankit - if you want to just surf stuff (no visiting youtube to watch lengthy movies) you'll be ok with an airtel 256. But if you want to do a lot of MP and videos I would suggest at least 512, if not 1Mbps.

@ Umang

Britain never lags for me. Most of my matchmade games are against people in britain actually lol. (its why atleast 50% of the people on my flist are brits)

@aamiracle

I'm paying 1122 Rs a month for it.

Yeah I know - I think it's an issue with the office laptop because it uses some weird firewall which I haven't been able to bypass.

May not be so. Most ISPs do not offer 1:1 symmetric connections to residential users. Which is why I opted for the Tata Indicom service. they offer 512 kbps unlimited with 1:1 U/D for INR 1850/- per month.

True, when I had the 256 kbps plan by Airtel it was 1:1 symmetric connection but when I switched to 512 kbps plan it was not so but right now for the last 15 days I am getting 70-80 KBps download speed on my 512 plan with almost same upload speed!!!
