Which Internet Connection is everyone using ?

the 384 kb plan is airtel is pretty awesome....at night you get download speeds of 70 and in the day you get dl speeds of 50...and sometimes it goes crazy and you will get 150....

and when playing on xbox live it doesnt lag much(once you have opened your nat)

I have airtel connection. What settings do u need? Where do i find them? Should i go to the modem ip address?

 

start<controlpannel<networkconnections<right click the network which says "connected"<properties<internet prtotcal (tcp/ip)< you will see the ip address and dns address there..

It is set on obtain IP address automatically

and obtain DNS server address automatically.

Airtel sets limit on unlimited connections!!!

 

Speeds would be cut to half after crossing these limits:

256 - 10 GB

384 - 15 GB

512 - 25 GB

1 Mbps - 150 GB

hey can anyone who has an Airtel connection tell me what the ip address and dns address settings should be ?

 

please reply asap..

 

IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.2 (Assigned to my PC)

Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0

Default Gateway . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.1

DNS Servers . . . . . . .. . . . : 192.168.1.1

 

The above info could vary upon the region you're in!

(Go to Start > Run > Type 'cmd' > Type 'ipconfig/all' > Check for your settings)

^^ yeah ..sad but true .. to top it Airtel is the great poineer to propose the suggestion to TRAI so tomorrow if it comes as directive from TRAI to rest of ISPs then we all are fuked...

 

First the recession in economy .. now this recession in bandwidth .. boy o boy wat next !!

Isn't TRAI here to promote growth of the broadband sector, or are they here to help ISPs reduce costs?

 

Edit #1: I just read up on the matter and these limits apply to all ISPs w.e.f. Feb. 7th, seems It's due to a new bill passed by the TRAI after all...

 

Edit #2: The name of the policy: "Fair User Download" .....ironic yes?

So i am assuming this is what it is ?

 

After you cross the limit they basically half your connection speed. Wat a lame shitty idea.

 

Edit - Spoke to Airtel

 

for 512kbps unlimited, they have 40GB limit of "DOWNLOAD" only [ Upload is not counted] and after you cross they put you on 256kbps line i.e half the speed but unlimited download again
