Pushy
1. All my communication with airtel for these plans says that FUP is not applicable on these but YMMV2. Even if FUP is applicable, the min speed it can be reduced to is 256 kbps. thanks....but what is YMMV?
A.Kap
got upgraded on Saturday. only the download speed has changed - upload speed is still 0.5 mbps which is what i was getting with 1mbps connection. why? Actually, I've seen a few other result uploads at the Broadband Forum from people using the same plan and getting an upload speed of around 900 kbps. I wonder why is that though. Would probably have to call up CC in a day or two.
m-JeRi
Of these which one would be better? Freedom 1699 (Airtel/KL/FL/27) Turbo 1299 (Airtel/KL/FL/26) Explorer 1099 (Airtel/KL/FL/25) FUP..and total data downloadable and all... How much can a 1 Mbps connection download in a month?? The plan choice clearly depends on your usage. For the real bang for buck value, I would recommend the Turbo 1299 because of the 512 kbps day and 1 mbps night speed feature. In case you're a heavy downloader, you can either opt for Freedom 2499 2mbps Unlimited{with Craptel's FUP} or the Freedom 1699 1mbps Unlimited{not sure about the FUP status}. With a 1 mbps line, you can download almost 12 gigs a day, which comes to around 360 gigs in a single month. Ethan_Hunt
Even I have applied for a new Airtel connection. I just contacted their customer care & they told me that none of their plans have FUP applied (regardless of the website rules claiming otherwise). I'm really sceptical about this as I'm planning to take the Explore 1099 plan. I may later shift to the Freedom 1699 1 Megs unlimited plan. From whom can we get a proper clarification about the FUP part?

achilles
wen i got fed up of my cable net (yuck!) i decided to go airtel but they did not provide services in my area so reluctantly went reliance. but i was pleasantly surprised. almost one year now and no major hiccups for service and the b/w i get is the b/w promised on paper. though they did mention that their optical link starts from my area only so the service would be excellent for my place. my only issue with reliance is that the network auto logs itself out every 24 hours even while ur using it. have had a few kz2 matches destroyed due to this. also, when i started, reliance was offering more bang for the buck but looks like airtel is offering better value now. would call reliance and tell them to upgrade my plan or else.. krammikk
recently upgraded from an airtel 1mbps unlimited plan to 2mbps unlimited one,as you can see it's pretty good, files download at 250-265 kbps ,haven't really tried upload yet.It costs me 2699 or something(not sure how much exactly, but give or take a couple of hundred rupees). This plan is not advertised in the website, but is very much there. The guy i talked to said that this plan was available only to people who are on the 1 mbps unlimited plan(you just need to pay rs.400 more i think),Im very happy with the upgrade. No one even came to my house to upgrade,it was all done from the airtel office in about 2 days time, and once it's done he calls to confirm. zophar
just came across this news http://www.telecomtiger.com/Broadband_full...mp;section=S212 I am currently paying 4.5k /month for my Tata Indicom 2mbps unlimited plan can get Airtel for HALF the price now.. my question though before i switch-- I read somewhere that with Airtel, once you download over a certain GB (I usually download between 150-200 GB) , your speed is halved.. is this true?? Ideally I would like a 8mbps unlimited ... wouldn't mind paying around 5k/month for that !!! need to introduce such a plan. or at least a 4mbps unlimited
lastAvenger
The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) today indicated that the Government should redefine broadband services making it mandatory for operators to offer at least 2Mbps speed. According to existing norms, broadband is defined with speed of only 256 kbps. Speaking at a telecom seminar organised by Assocham, Dr J. S. Sarma, Chairman, TRAI, said that the target set for roll out of broadband by the Government can be achieved only if the definition of broadband is redefined and resources from USO fund are utilised. Dr Sarma said that while there are countries which offer speeds of over 20Mbps, India is still stuck at 256 kbps. http://www.thehindubusinessline.com/2009/0...72451070400.htm
