Australia's hopes of retaining the Border-Gavaskar Trophy have been dealt a major blow, with fast bowler Mitchell Starc flying home due to a stress fracture in his right foot.

Starc will be the second player to fly home in the wake of the Bengaluru Test, after allrounder Mitchell Marsh was ruled out of the remainder of the series due to a shoulder injury. Seam-bowling allrounder Marcus Stoinis will join the squad as a replacement for Marsh.

after bowling superbly all season umesh yadav back to bowling his assorted tripe :wallbash:

hope this pitch doesnt detoriate like the commentators were predicting or this might be a costly toss to lose. if it turns out to be a normal indian pitch then it might be good for us

Horrible crowd.,.

Seriously BCCI should identify and host tests in only select places like Bangalore, Chennai, Mumbai, Kolkata and places where crowd comes in.
Its embarrassing.. Expected better from Ranchi..

In Bangalore even after dismal batting performance by India, there was excellent crowd the next day when aussies were batting.
We were always behind the team...

Tomorrow will be series deciding... we need to bat the whole day at any cost.

yeah need 100+ lead at least since we're batting last. hope pitch holds together for 1-1.5 more day AND we make the most of it or we'll be in deep trouble

in the quest for pujara improving his SR he seems to have forgotten how to make those huge 100s that he was known for. need a double 100 from him & big 100 from vijay in this match coz virat will be hampered

ashwin is a big dud if the pitch is not spinning. he's flopped on all the flat pitches since mumbai. otoh jadeja has improved alot & is light years ahead of him on flat tracks. just wish he was a better batsman then he'd be automatic first choice spinner on O/S matches. not that ashwin can be trusted to make runs against good attacks abroad. plus he gives away runs on the field. we really should have picked kuldeep instead of useless chushant (he even messed up a simple runout chance today). a wrist spinner is best bet for o/s

except for last 2 sessions of last test we havent had 2 consecutive good sessions this whole series. now's crunch time, need to rectify that

5 failures in a row, very unlike kohli.

Guess Australia pre match jibes are working well. Smith in the other hand has largely remain unfazed and doing well.

Kohli needs to get his focus back.

Pujara has played proper test cricket. Great batting and again trying to save test for India. Hope saha supports him and jaddu don't throw wicket again [emoji4]

That crap shot by Vijay just before new ball exposed Virat to it. Game changing moment. Our middle and lower order is getting exposed against good bowling. Any illusions of this team doing well OS being blown apart very quickly.

Now we need remaining batsmen to bat out time as much as make runs so in case oz don't collapse we'll have to bat for less time to escape with a draw . And this was the one ground where I thought we had a win locked [emoji22] How did we ever come to this state that oz are dominating us at home. Missed MSD's grit today

On the contrary I think it's a decent pitch, there is help for bowlers and batsmen can get runs if they apply themselves. Why would we want match ending in 4 days, fun is match going till the final session. If we get 150 lead, we will by all probability get Australia in 90 ovs tomorrow.

Aus will have to bat really really well to save the test.
