thank u sameer for that detailed write up, saved me the time. that juve thing is so very different from cronje and co.

and locust, yes there are rivalries in cricket too but after indo-pak and pom-oz and to some extant proteas-oz there are none, while the fire of first two rivalries match those that of football's there are many more instances of fierce rivalries in latter sport, hence my point that match fixing in football (if its there) is certainly not more than its in cricket

Fixing happens everywhere.

Footballers are no saints and so are cricketers, its a part and parcel of game and we all have to live with it.

The level of fixing in cricket is way, way more than in football (that is if there is fixing in football at all), or any other team sport. Even the most publicised match-fixing scandal in football had nothing to do with the players. It involved the referees and club management, who can only influence the outcome of a match to a limited extent. In cricket, fixing happens at every level - management, curators, coaching staff, and players.

A lot of this would stop if they just legalised betting in India, like it is elsewhere. It would be so much more transparent. The government would make tons of money in taxes and all those using betting to make money illegally would be brought in the open.

Mirror had a huge article today on Modi's history. Christ, that man has a very colorful past. Rich, spoilt kid in the 90s. And a lot of his family members are stakeholders in different franchises. Heck, there are a LOT LOT of skeletons which have to still fall out. Everyday something new is being unearthed. Modi will go down, and he will take many more along with him. Huge nexus here. Corrupt politicians vested interests, millions of dollars unaccounted for and possibly laundered to tax havens. Heaven knows.

Still will give him credit to make IPL such a bumper success. He has been the heart and soul of this and no one else afaik could do it.

He was even arrested and convicted in the US for assault, kidnapping and possession of drugs (specifically cocaine). Some say it went into trafficking, not just possession.

impossible to fix a cricket match..

even in hansie cronje incident he had given information about the pitch, conditions at the stadium.. thats it

He did more than tht, remember the India SA series, where ganguly was in blazing form. some of his best bowlers used to have overs remaining in the match and he still used to put himself to bowl, and get slogged all over the ground. He had even convinced gibbs to do the same.

Fixng does takes place, but never more then 2 players or max 3 players in a team are fixed. To say that whole team is fixing the match is nothing short of ridiculous. If you are able to buy the captain of the team, then its makes a huge Impact on the Outcome.

Apart from minor setback in votebank. another problem is tht if government legalises it, the government will no doubt earn good money, but the ministers and bureaucrats will start loosing their personal income.

Why do you think fuktards like Lalloo prasad and other POS MP's along with BCCI are objecting to IPL right now? coz they are not getting any monies from this cash rich event. Modi and few others were having all for themselves without sharing.
