Iyer huge disappointment, should have probably tried Pandey this match. New gen of players like gill, iyer seem to have now adjusted game just for T20, they just don't look cut out to play long innings.

Gill has solid technique
Him and Mayank should get more chances. Iyer is poor against short balls.

Let's not forget Tendulkar played 78 innings at the start of his career batting at 5-6.. if he was playing in top 3 from the start we would have different stats for sure.. but a great feat for Kohli indeed. This has been a sh*t year so he can be excused for not being his best. Also his child's arrival might be at the back of his mind too..

Decent score. Still 30 short imo but without Warner to start this match may go till the end.. also pitch isn't as flat as previous games. Pandya and jadeja have become indispensable in white ball formats.. only if top order too starts contributing..

Gill looked solid and will improve with chances, I don't believe Iyer will succeed much at this level due to shoddy technique and his temperament ain't great.
The problem we have is too many accumulators and not many hitters.. to beat teams like England and Australia you need to keep the momentum going.
