Whats the point of naming and shaming them when our very own head coach said this while the 3rd test match was going on.

Can’t see Virat’s feat against Australia being emulated by any other Indian captain’: Ravi Shastri

Quote

“I cannot see Virat’s feat of winning against Australia both at home and away being emulated by another Indian captain for a very long time, cricket.com.au quoted Shastri as saying in ‘India’s 71-Year Test: The Journey to Triumph in Australia’ book.

Like Yuvraj & Gambhir, Shubman gill comes from a pretty well to do background afaik.

Not very much, his father is a Farmer, owns some agri lands, in a small town in Western Punjab.

They moved to Chandigarh in a rented house so he can play Cricket.

Harsha also mentioned this today in the post-match show.

Then he probably comes from most well to do family in current team.

Remember this day and this team for years and years to come!!

I so wish there was a documentary team with this team that could have released a documentary somewhere near the future for this tour similar to the one that followed the Aussie team. I would have paid to watch that documentary

Lol I think Indian Cricket brought a lot of happiness to all cricket playing nations today!! Everyone loves an Aussie drubbing!! Aussies have to be the most hated team ever and they showed in this series too why they are hated!!

Abuses, intimidating bowling, cheating umpires...you name it!!

Dhool chatayi hai sach mein!! It’s Lagaan part 2 [emoji23]

Also part of the enlarged squad, which has become a norm due to the pandemic, will be five net bowlers comprising: the fast bowling trio of Ankit Rajpoot (Uttar Pradesh), Avesh Khan (Madhya Pradesh) and Sandeep Warrier (Kerala). There are also two spinners among the net bowlers: Karnataka left-arm bowling allrounder K Gowtham and Uttar Pradesh left-arm spinner Saurabh Kumar.

Main squad:
Openers: Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, Mayank Agarwal

Middle-order: Cheteshwar Pujara, Virat Kohli (captain), Ajinkya Rahane, Rishabh Pant, Wriddhiman Saha, Hardik Pandya, KL Rahul (subject to fitnsess after first Test)

Fast bowlers: Jasprit Bumrah, Ishant Sharma, Mohammed Siraj, Shardul Thakur

Spinners: R Ashwin, Kuldeep Yadav, Washington Sundar, Axar Patel

Standbyes: KS Bharat (wicketkeeper), Abhimanya Easwaran, Shahbaz Nadeem, Rahul Chahar

Net bowlers: Ankit Rajpoot, Avesh Khan, Sandeep Warrier, K Gowtham, Saurabh Kumar

Guess Natrajan has been given some time off to be with his daughter.

Copy paste whatsapp forward. The Kohli bit had me laughing:

India's Series Report Card - The Batsmen - Will post a separate Blog about the bowlers later.

Openers -

Prithvi Shaw - 1/10. Has to go back to the drawing board and Sort his high back-lift and inability to play the in-dipping delivery or he will keep getting bowled or edged out.

Mayank Agarwal - 3/10. Shubhman Gill has grabbed his chances. Rohit and Gill look to be the preferred openers for now. Has to keep performing and show that he has the skill to deliver in crunch situations.

Shubhman Gill - 9/10. The find of the tour for India. What a sublime talent. If only he can keep his head down and keep performing like the way he did today and in the previous match, he's set for a long long career with India. His bat flow, his drives, his pull shots are a treat to the eyes.

Rohit Sharma - 6/10. He got starts in all the four innings he played but couldn't convert any of those into big hundreds! If he has to become an all-time legend, he will have to score big hundreds outside India as well. Else he'll retire like an ODI legend but his resume will be incomplete!

Cheteshwar Pujara - 8/10. If you still don't understand his value to the team, you don't understand Test Cricket. Someone must take a picture of his battered and bruised body and post it on twitter. He took all those blows throughout the tour so that the likes of Pant and others could play their shots and express themselves.

Virat Kohli - 1/10. Could that Paternity Leave have been avoided? Yes. Has his grip on the team loosened? Yes. Is he invincible and irreplaceable? No. Can the team Win without him - Yes. Can he replaced in Test captaincy by Rahane - Yes. Can be replaced in ODI/T-20 captaincy by Rohit - Yes. Can he have more children - Yes.

Ajinkya Rahane - 9/10. What a standout Captain! His calm demeanor, his composure, his attacking fields to set plans, his ability to sniff out wickets preying on the weaknesses of the batsmen! And then not to forget his Boxing Day Hundred which inspired India's turn around and gave us self-belief! He has gone up a league after this tour!

Hanuma Vihari - 5/10. Have to feel for him! His innings in Sydney was worth its weight in gold though! He's the reason we could stretch the series to Brisbane and win it! Needs to score big though and not throw his wicket away!

Rishabh Pant - 9/10. Young, Fearless, Bold, Stupid at times - But a Match Winner! Nerves of Steel! A ball from Lyon hit the crack today and went directly into the hands of Steve Smith. Any batsman would have been petrified! Next ball, Pant danced down the wicket and hit Lyon over Long-On for Six! That shot defines this breed of players! He will win many more matches for India in the future!

Saha - 2/10. Bye.. Become a wicketkeeping coach soon!

Comments welcome! Criticism, feedback appreciated!
