India Test opener Prithvi Shaw - and two others - have been handed suspensions by the BCCI for doping violations. An official release from the cricket board stated that the Mumbai cricketer provided a urine sample as part of an anti-doping testing program during the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy on February 22, 2019 in Indore.

The sample was found to contain Terbutaline - a substance that is on the WADA Prohibited List of Substances. Following this finding, Shaw was charged with the commission of an Anti-Doping Rule Violation (ADRV) under the BCCI Anti-Doping Rules (ADR) Article 2.1 on July 16, 2019, and provisionally suspended pending determination of the charge.

Prithvi Shaw hasn't played international cricket for a year now. He will miss many tests because of this.

Some of the players, and that includes Virat, have some kind of insecurity and want to restrict him to Test side.

It is very difficult for test cricketers like Pujara and Rahane to stay motivated, especially for Pujara who doesn;t even gets to play IPL.

Shaw shouldn't be on this list.

Plus it is high time ICC should look at drug code. There is nothing called perfomance-boosting in cricket

it is not competitive athletics, the only boost players can get is of endurance and that doesn't guarantee 5 wickets to a bowler and fifty to batsman.

There have also been reports of him having some disciplinary issues during the Aussie tour. Let's hope this guy doesn't turn out to be another vinod kambli

Rumours.

Someone just spread that he isn't trying hard enough to recover. Prithvi himself quashed it.

How dumb can one be to be an international cricketer and still take OTC cough syrup? Idiot deserves the ban.

Thats ignorant to think that one can never make silly mistake.

And while Terbutaline increases muscle power it reduces the endurance, which means a cricketer has no use for it.

It increases muscle building and is also given to Asthma patients to increase their lung capacity and improve the stamina. He should have been banned for a year at least as our cricket team has to conform to WADA laws which states that:

"As with all β2-adrenergic receptor agonists, terbutaline is on the World Anti-Doping Agency's list of prohibited drugs, except when administered by inhalation and a Therapeutic Use Exemption (TUE) has been obtained in advance."

I like him but whatever is right is right. You can't bend the rules for our own.

All he had to do was to apply for Wada to use that drug. Its not a performance enhancing drug anyways.

Good BCCI are screening it, so we dont see these stupid mistakes on international stage and get players banned at important tournaments.

Bcci got 6 application for the spot of Indian coach :

1) Hesson

2) Mahela

3) Tom Moody

4) Robin Singh

5) Gary Kirsten

6) Lalchand Rajput

Mahela, Hesson n Kirsten all are very good options. IMO much better than Ravi Shastri.

Mahela is young and has awesome experience in T20. Looking at Wt2o next year, he might be a slightly better option than Hesson n Gary.

Gary as coach and Jonty as fielding coach would be very good..

BCCI has said they will take Virat's opinion but decision will be theirs.

Virat won't able to force his hands like last time.

That's good cuz then Shastri isn't in clear.

I would have loved if someone like Gilly or Clarke can come in.
