silentassassin
You know what, he did. But he still didn't get wickets the bowler's way like Bk did. BK had very average pace but way he tested the batsmen outside the off-stump, showed the way to others. Wonders competition can do...even Dinda was fired up after seeing BK's blitzkrieg. With Zaheer you can never have this...with god-given place in the team he has lost that fire, and he cant ignite that in anyone. But this is going the way it should, Dhoni must be a worried man....and waiting for IPL more than anyone else. BK was amazing..I'm happy that Dinda is getting good opportunities.. He bowled really well for PWI , he can improve and become a better bowler..He has more pace than our other bowlers.. Even Ishanth showed some fire... But feeling bad for Rahane..He showed his class 2day...But for wat ?? to get dropped from ODI's ?? P.S Seems Praveen Kumar is injured , How long is he been injured :blink:/> Edited December 25, 2012 by silentassassin
Right
I like umpiring in this one. Both were new so they mostly used 3rd umpire. I have no problems with that! Its much bettrr than giving a wrong decision. There were few bad calls..the opener who got out to BK caught behind and Hafeez who probably gloved that one off jadeja. The no-ball wasn't very convincing... But still, Umps did well.
Spacescreamer
^^ 132.6 kph, huge appeal for caught behind, and it is eventually upheld, outswinger to the right hander, luring him into the drive, Dhoni snaps it up, will have to check replays to see if there was an edge, yes, clear sound of a nick as ball passes bat
AtheK
Yup it was a clear nick, sound was evident on tv too, superb decision.
Spacescreamer
that gambhir was trying to act all too gung ho with the umpire as he didnt gave a wide. This BCCI's ways of bullying is now showing up on the players as well. For me match was lost once rahane casually lifted freedi. Gambhir's slow scoring or not.. you dont throw the wicket with a misfiring partner at the other end. Then toh gambhir bhaiya was always the potential bullet train.. or so he thought. once he got out, i turned the tv off. Knew what was coming in. The Wolfy among us
So..... You didn't see BK's bowling?
Big Boss
We just needed 15 more runs OR Irfan Pathan instead of Jadeja yesterday, or any good fast bowler. Our fast bowlers were superb. BK will get hammered at 10-12 runs per over on flat wickets though. So he needs to be selected wisely. He was smashed all over in IPL on flat wickets. I don't how Ishant gets picked, he is really an below average bowler. Yeah. His figures were 4-0-23-1 while defending 134. He gave 2 runs and took 1 wicket (almost 2) when 16 were needed of 18 balls. Very below average performance indeed. I wonder if you even watch the matches. If you did, you wouldn't spew such BS every now and then. I am no fan of Ishant Sharma, but after his performance yesterday, only an idiot will challenge his selection. Especially when I dont see anyone else fit or good enough to bowl for India. PK, Irfan, RP are injured, Awana got hammered and Zaheer wont play limited overs soon. His fight with Kamran has added an excellent fire to the series and charged up both the teams setting up the future matches nicely.
Spacescreamer
So..... You didn't see BK's bowling? Nope and that is the only aspect i regret. Dinda in the line up and i am pretty much against watching the bowling efforts even before India can bat. He is pathetic and the way he goes on boisterously.. looks even worse. Ganguly keeps praising him as if he is some kinda talent.
Big Boss
He is pathetic and the way he goes on boisterously.. looks even worse. Ganguly keeps praising him as if he is some kinda talent. He is actually. If you watched the IPL. He was fantastic for PWI. He completely owned MI line up in one match. Unfortunately got injured during IPL though. Against England he bowled excellent last over minus the last ball.
dante77
No. He may perform good in some matches but he fails in most of them. His performace in last match was decent though. Dinda is the one who should be kicked. Ishant..... Lets see how good he is.
Big Boss
It depends on pitch really. Yesterday all fast bowlers did good. We need fast bowler who can do well on any kind of pitch. Especially in end overs.
arv95
I think its high time Dhoni is dropped from T20's and Tests.. He should atleast be stripped of T20 captaincy and play as wk-batsman. What the hell was he thinking playing just 3 bowlers. Dropping Ashwin for Rohit was a very stupid decision and a 4th proper bowler would have won us the match. He is also depending too heavily on Yuvi to take wickets. Big Boss
But feeling bad for Rahane..He showed his class 2day...But for wat ?? to get dropped from ODI's ?? What ODIs? He is in for Pakistan ODIs. ODI squad: Mahendra Singh Dhoni (Capt), Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir, Virat Kohli, Yuvraj Singh, Rohit Sharma, Suresh Raina, Ravindra Jadeja, R Ashwin, Ishant Sharma, Ajinkya Rahane, Ashok Dinda, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Shami Ahmed, Amit Mishra. http://www.espncricinfo.com/india-v-pakistan-2012/content/story/598311.html Dropping Ashwin for Rohit was a very stupid decision and a 4th proper bowler would have won us the match. He is also depending too heavily on Yuvi to take wickets Yup. He thought Yuvi will be effective as he was against England. Pitch favored fast bowlers and Yuvi bowled a bit too short yesterday. Ashwin would have been hammered as well. Ashwin's performance is pathetic in limited overs since T20 WC.
Spacescreamer
Dropping Ashwin for Rohit was a very stupid decision and a 4th proper bowler would have won us the match. He is also depending too heavily on Yuvi to take wickets. That is true. Ashwin is a decent bat and after recent inns, he can be called as more than a decent bat. Getting in a jadeja instead of a Ashwin.. well that was a real blunder. @ The rock Well i dont watch the IPL so i dunno. Thanks for the info. but i still feel jadeja and dinda are good enuf for non Intl matches only. You look at their body language and you know they are whela material. Cant afford to give them the long rope for so long. Just saw Kumar's bowling. Very well done by the lad.
Right
@rock See the stats and then talk. Given his strike rate, he is not even likely to take wicket in a T20 game. I dont disagree that he bowled better last night.
Sufyan
@Udham His stats are poor no doubt but on current form he seems like a safe bet.I know i am scraping the bottom of the barrel but then such are our fast bowling reserves. Big Boss
Given his strike rate, he is not even likely to take wicket in a T20 game What stats? Last T20 he played for India was in 2009. His recent form is the thing that counts. He was our best bowler in last Test match against England in 1st innings and was good in 2nd innings as well. Though I am 100% sure if PK or Irfan would have been fit, Ishant wont have played. So no idea why you wondered he was picked.
Right
My point is, why scrapping the same barrel again and again Move on, get some one else, who doesn't come with an ugly baggage of past-performances. And check the performance in last 5-10 innings, both statistically and subjectively, where their current form stands. I mean they can read stats right? silentassassin
Getting jadeja in for ashwin was actually a good move.. With the batting collapse we had jadeja was very handy.. But he dint perform.. Ishanth is a decent bowler.. We need to get a system where the fast bowlers wont lose their skills after an year or 2.. Happened with every bowler.. May get in a good overseas pace bowler at nca..
