When are we gonna accept the fact that Sachin is not going to play forever? He will have "cricket left in him" even at the age of 60 but that doesn't mean he keeps playing. If he thinks he can go out in a blaze of glory in SA then he is just deluding himself.

As much as i would like to see Sachin keep playing, he is just not cutting it.

He is not gonna take quick singles, his game is now that of an accumulator, and his instincts have slowed down. If he has to accelerate, he most def will pull a muscle or will cramp.

Not to mention, he cannot chase the ball to stop boundaries or make a diving attempt without risking another injury. All this is required for Intentional cricket. He is fit for domestic cricket, but when you are talking about national side playing for pride.. not on.

You dont want your star player to be labelled as a liability or somebody who harmed the cause.

That is required for ODIs. If it was required for test matches, VVS Laxman should never have played International cricket.

Good decision to drop Sehwag.. But why was Jaffer overlooked again? Any idea he'd get a chance for the SA tour? Vijay and Dhawan would be sitting ducks over there

They want to give the youngsters a go before SA. Though I don't get how just 2 tests will blood a new opener before SA series. And jaffer would have been a stop gap arrangement because even with a permanent place in the side, he would have retired eventually in 2 years or so. The management is looking for long term solutions. As the Times said yday, this could well be the indications of the end of an era and a beginning of a new one

WTF..

Duncan Fletcher's contract may be extented as MSD n Srinivasan supports him :ack:

Most players in the team have positive reviews about him. So doesn't come as that big a surprise. May not have produced the results but certainly not due to the lack of efforts on his side

Shane Watson, James Pattinson, Mitchell Johnson and Usman Khawaja will not be considered for Australia's third Test against India in Mohali after ignoring team orders following the crushing innings defeat in Hyderabad. After the loss inside three and a half days, the coach Mickey Arthur asked every member of the squad to let him know three points on how their individual performances and those of the team could be improved.

 This is epic.

Michael Vaughn is rubbing it in on Twitter:

What I am confused by is that the coach of Australia asked the players for only 3 things to improve the team??

Bowl better,Bat better, Catch better, communicate better... Just bloody play better.... I am now available for Selection of Australia..!!!!!

Quite true :P

i would call it stupidity...

Actually no.

Its just that they clearly told them this is a task and repeatedly told em that you got to do it. They breached and clearly didnt followed guidelines.

The difference between the asian team's work ethics and that of a professional one.

Many a times you want the person to get it from within what he is doing wrong. You cant go about tutoring them like circus animals.

Self assessment is pretty important.

Aussie cricketers are a bunch of brainless hotheads and that is a proven fact. Maybe asking them to think was a bit too much. :D
