Mahela Jayawardhane is overrated, lol - man he can play every shot in the book, as late or as early as he wishes, to hit any gap he wants, and looking absolutely stylish at that, he is godly

On Sunday ,nothing to worry if we win the toss, if we lose it, god help us against Anderson.

Also I find too many similarities in Dhawan and Sehwag, he is as cocky as Sehwag, ek Jaat bahar, doosra andar

His overseas record is poor compared to greats like Sachin, Dravid etc. And I guess Arvinda De Silva has better record.

OMG there are haters of Mahela Jayawadene :panic: He is one of the best cricketer SL has produced, a classic batsman

Who said hater? I like to watch him bat, even against India. I hated him during WC 2011 final though. But facts are facts, his overseas record is mediocre and his ODI record is also poor.

Look at Mahela's Test stats:

http://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/player/49289.html?class=1;filter=advanced;home_or_away=2;home_or_away=3;host=1;host=2;host=3;host=5;orderby=start;template=results;type=allround;view=match

Outside subcontinent.

29 matches 1694 runs 141 highest 30.80 average 4 hundreds

ODI stats outside subcontinent:

http://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/player/49289.html?class=2;filter=advanced;home_or_away=2;home_or_away=3;host=1;host=2;host=3;host=5;orderby=start;template=results;type=allround;view=match

127 matches 3410 runs 144 highest 31.00 average 4 hundreds

Far from greatest or godly.

how many foreign batsman have a good record in the subcontinent, funny how they are not thought of as overrated

Edit: the whole idea of record in overseas is overrated

He is NOT over-rated. And records only show whether a player is good not but it doesn't prove whether he is bad. yes there is a difference. A player like Klusner never had good record yet he was one of the best all-rounder of his time. Azharuddin's ODI record as a batsman was not good either. Pollard made his first fifty in IPL this season but he was always a key player for mumbai, he won them many matches,

A very good record obviously means a player is good but if record is not very good, it doesn't mean he is bad or over-rated. Crucial knocks where it matters counts too, there is a reason they are called crucial knocks.

This.

DAFUQ Dante, DAFUQ. 40+ batting average with 3500+ runs and almost 90 striker rate along with 192 wickets with 6 five wicket hauls at economy of 4.70 is not a good record?

http://www.espncricinfo.com/ci/content/player/45821.html

And Azhar's ODI record is not good? It is still better than Jaya. 36+ average and 9300 runs is no joke.

Mohammed Azharuddin

The English attack can be pretty potent if the conditions are in their favour, Anderson being the key. The fact that they've learnt reverse swing helps as well. It's a well rounded off attack with Broad being the guy who can deliver good bouncers and swann/ tredwell handling the spin department well too..

If the conditions are anything like yday's match then expect it to be a tough challenge for India else we can handle them well..

They might actually test Shikhar Dhawan with bouncers over his shoulder since he seems to be a compulsive hooker of the ball.. Raina being the only weak link against pace n bounce I still feel we can do well against them though..

Even tredwell was impressive when they toured India so lets wait n watch!

so does Rohit Sharma but he's criticized for not scoring. still his average is similar to MJ even though he's played some 250+ matches less & can still grow temperamentally.

how good your shots look counts for nothing if you dont put up scores

how many foreign batsman have a good record in the subcontinent, funny how they are not thought of as overrated

Edit: the whole idea of record in overseas is overrated

put that down to media bias. but atleast for me foreign batsmen that dont have a good record in the subcontinent are overrated for eg Ponting. whereas someone like M Hussey who scores everywhere IMO is a better batsman than him

i dont think "the whole idea of record in overseas" is overrated. if a player can score/take wickets in conditions that are different from one he's grown up in that shows his skill level. so yes, while you cant judge a player only on his overseas record it is a big component.

if you're averaging low 30's (however "pretty" your shots are) when you're in middle order & are 1 of 2 or 3 of your sides main batsman then you're not doing your job. i'd take a "ugly" batsman who averages 40's than such a "pretty" batsman any day

also thankfully our players dont think like you regd overseas records or 0-8 losses would be the norm :nono:

here's hoping Rohit makes a blistering 100, SRJ & Ishant take 5 wickets each in a big win that also takes the monkey off their backs..
