ya indoor cricket will kill a lot of fun, and what do you do when it stops raining, do you open the roof, if you do so you are changing the playing condition. It should probably be once roofs are deployed, then the entire game finishes under the roof.

yeah. Not the most ideal condition , but it's way better than no game at all.

It could really come handy in situations like today.

Fitting end to a pathetic tournament. Not even a reserve day for the finals ?. No wonder that no one abroad gave a f**k about this lame tournament where almost all matches have been influenced by rain.

Andrew Dovey: "Quite simply put, if this game is declared a draw, with the ICC failing to have it played on a reserve day, then the past couple of weeks could be considered a waste of everyone's time.. the teams, match officials, commentators and fans worldwide involved. In fact the only winners will be the ICC and Sky Sports financially.. pull your fingers out and do the right thing for the people this sport depends on.."

From Cricinfo

So damn true :furious:

Major KLPD.
people are venting their anger on ICC for no reserve day and rightly so.
Sure weather is unpredictable but at least take your goddamn chances.
And they could've at least started doing all the formalities a week before or so, when a situation like today's had a good chance of happening.

Regarding indoor stadiums; the whole concept is total ch**t for cricket. Like someone said, wind and cloud cover play a big of role in the sport and taking those factors away will kill a lot of fun. Other thing is balls/shots hitting the roof, seems comical but it has happened. Back in early 00s australia experimented with roof over a stadium and hosted couple of international matches iirc (not sure), no such thing happened there but they were having a lot of domestic matches under roofs in that season and quite a number of players were hitting shots that hit the roof and came down, Afridi (playing in oz in an unofficial match and for some domestic team apart from that) managed that a number of times.

It turned out to be a tricky situation, sometimes toh fielders even caught the ball as it was coming down. Declaring it a dead ball solved nothing. Another thing is keeping insides of such stadiums at bearable temperatures. England, nzl is fine but imagine covered stadia in subcontinent :O One can put air conditioning but the kind of expense that would incur would be very very steep. And if you put roof in one country, you would have (in theory) to install it in major stadia in all nations so as to maintain parity, it is not that rains dont wash out matches in india.

All in all, very impractical.
