Thought I would just write a bit...

Eve of the World Cup. Lots of speculation about the Indian Cricket team, a win-less 2 month streak with one small glimmer of a victory in a warm-up game. To me personally, the 1983 victory still stands as the sweetest moment in Indian Cricket. Not many things in come close to Kapil Dev proudly holding that shiny cup at the Lord's Balcony on June 25th, 1983. No matter how many times I have seen that match, it just never got old. Dhoni did it for us in 2011, again. Not many thought after a 28 years we could lift the cup again but we did and that's all that mattered.

It's been 4 long years. The sands of time have shifted. A World Cup without Sachin Tendulkar will never perhaps feel the same, at least not for ones like us who have seen and reveled in his success, his lovely cover-drives and his flamboyant straight-drives... for the ones who have seen him give Indian Cricket his absolute best both in his formative years and well beyond. Today, however we have an young side. A side which has sometimes shown us streaks of brilliance and yet on other occasions left us disheartened with their amateurish Cricketing mastery. Times that have left us thinking about the Legend's of the years gone by.

But yet we as Indian's this evening we can only hope 'one' thing and it is that 'one' thing that something in me tells me the Indian Cricket team is thinking about this evening... that one thing called "BELIEVE". So, I hope that these young men from a country of a billion can go ahead and "believe" in themselves, in their abilities and most importantly "believe" in their hours of stoic hard work in the practice session's they have endured. At the end of the day when it's all said and done it's how they performed that will count, smart little neo-cliches of "#We Won't Give It Back" won't.

Simply put... I wish they can win it and even if they don't I hope they give us a dandy chance of saying "Heck... our team at least gave it their best and left their A game on the field rather than in the confines of the net".

Big cheers to the World Cup, Bigger cheers to us here at IVG who love our game of Cricket! As Richie Benaud had put it ever so nicely..."But for a sunny day and a good game of Cricket, the world have been a poorer place to live in!".

Same here. That moment was really amazing when you watch it...it is bit more special because we won it Home away....We won it at Lord's.

Anyways...joh bhi ho...Exciting days ahead. Hope we see great spirit of sportsmanship ...

Read your post now black hawk..

We will win..

Believe..

We have good batting unit...We also raise our standards for big tournaments..

Thanks my friend for reading through my post. :)

Yes, our team does have that all precious inherent talent to perform and perform well on any given day. They have the potential to match up with the better teams out there, as one cohesive well unit. Young lads in the biggest tournament of them all! The bowling department... that's the worrying part though. The very worrying part.

On the WC Preview show being shown on Star Sports a few minutes ago these were the picks from the panel:

Wasim Akram: Winners - Australia.

Mark Waugh: Semi Finalists - England, South Africa, New Zealand and Australia. Didn't say anything about who would win.

Harsha Bhogle: Winners - Australia.

We won with a similar team in the Champions trophy (Few players have changed), So i feel we will do it here also..
I am pretty sure our batting will take us to the cup, Though our bowling is weak but not bad...

I hope rohit & Dhawan will start piling up runs as the WC starts...

Cant wait for IND-PAK match!!! :wOOtjumpy::wOOtjumpy:

for better or worse batting selections is fixed so what should be bowling selection for pak match?

this is mine

7. SRJ

8. Ashwin

9. Axar

10. Umesh

11. Mohit

i'm going with the theory of play your best bowlers whatever the conditions so i'm going with 3 spinners. they might not take wickets but hopefully they'll keep RR in check. no such hope with the quicks so no point playing them. havent picked bhuvi coz he doesnt look match fit yet & shami coz he's been too inconsistent, even more than umesh. though i guess dhoni will pick shami instead of one of the spinners in which case he should play both left armers as Pak have a known weakness against them
