AtheK
Okay understood... thanks for the reply AtheK Bhai. I guess it pretty much boils down to the "money" being made! isn't that the base of everything, coated with sugar syrup and colors.
Big Boss
Oh yah... almost forgot that they have kept a Reserve Day for each of the SF games. This might be a stupid question to ask now, specially now that the group stages are over... but I was wondering why did they chalk out a WC schedule where New Zealand played each and every game in their home country? Even the Aussies flew to New Zealand to play there right? Then how come not so for the Black Caps? In 2011 WC also SL and India played all their matches at their home. Final was the first match SL played outside their home and lost. WC schedule always favors home teams.

SL played all theirs in SL.. If we played SL in sf or qf , sl would have traveled to India as we were higher placed in icc rankings when the schedule was made.. Black_Hawk
isn't that the base of everything, coated with sugar syrup and colors. Oh yes... certainly. Cut through the little light layer of sugar and the sweetest part lies there in. Thing is though, the entire advantage for NZ playing in their home grounds and hitting the bowlers to all ends of the park might just disappear when they play at the MCG. I mean I do realize they will fly to Melbourne and start practicing there but playing away from home, on a much larger ground might be a tad different and difficult. Suddenly those shots from the bat which were flying to the high tiers of the stadium might just fall short. I guess the ideal situation for them would have been if they had a couple of games in Australia instead of playing their entire quote in their own turf. And crowd support too, they have played in their nest till now. Australia will either be packed by Indian supporters or Australian supporters on final, it will be a completely diff ball game. But in case they still end up winning that day, it will be an amazing feat.

So, if I'm understanding this right New Zealand vs say Australia... New Zealand being higher than Australia in the ICC rankings gets a home match in New Zealand. OTOH, New Zealand vs Sri Lanka match even if Sri Lanka were higher in rankings New Zealand would have still got a home game since the venue countries this time around are Australia and New Zealand. Right?

If India make it to the final MCG will be booming with Indian supporters with their cheers and posters! I wonder what the crowd capacity for MCG is! AflyingKiwi
I dont know why every one is putting NZ as already a lossing side, yes they havr not played in Australia till now but on the day these things doesnt matter. Yes they have a disadvantage but it does not mean that they will not compete

It obviously depends on that day.

Black_Hawk
Just a question folks... which design of the World Cup trophy do you personally like more? The Prudential Cups trophy (think Kapil Dev holding it at the Lord's Balcony back in 1983!) or the one presently awarded which has a Golden Globe design held by silver columns? I for one love the Prudential Cup design more.

No one is saying india is a bad team, it is just odds. And when NZ walk out on MCG they will face a 2 time or a 3 time world cup winning team, odds will just favor them. In the end it will all mean nothing. Just a question folks... which design of the World Cup trophy do you personally like more? AtheK
And to all SA fans, now that you are out of the world cup(Where you had the best chance to win), listen to this. " You have had a great team, and a great run. BUT STOP PROCLAIMING YOURSELF CHAMPIONS OR WORLD BEATERS, without proving a dime. I personally love a couple of guys in the team, ABD stands right on top, but your blind fanboyism and inability to come to terms with the facts is more irritating then anything that can be imagined. Feel free to support who you want, go for it, no harm, no problem, but stop proclaiming yourself god of the game. You re not, you probably never will be. You have a great team, stop acting like bangladeshi supporters, both you and your team deserve better" Here is hoping that when we have T20 world cup next year, you guys have learnt your lesson and act mature, like your captain FINALLY did. Go on prove it and then brag about it. Peace Out. ABD is one of the best cricketers ever, just no doubt about it. Dale Steyn is one of the most overrated ODI bowler, just no doubt about it.

KnackChap
The icing on the cake in todays win was how close the kiwis let SA come to shedding their chakka tag before winning it. Only way they could have topped it is by taking it to the last ball or by tie'ing the scores. Bamboo daal diya SA ke andar. Mazaa aa gaya bc. Sach4life
Its impossible, not hard. All those 60-70 meter 6s they hit will land in hands of fielders at MCG. Lol..no, Likes of Mccllum and Anderson can easily clear any boundary. They are not kids ki saala match dusri jagah kiya toh bas out hogaye. If they click, they can win. They won't be the favorites to win against AUS (if they go through), but they can win. No doubt on that. and NZ mein choti boundaries sabke liye thi. Akeli unke liye nahi thi. Black_Hawk
India's focus and intensity remain sharp ahead of Semifinal: The Indian players locked their focus on intense, sharp training - away from the glare of their fans - at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Monday ahead of the massive semi-final showdown with Australia on Thursday. After a cursory look at the match strip, still being rolled and prepared, they got down to the nets with enthusiasm and purpose on slow pitches. Interestingly, one of the four nets was reserved for the likes of Suresh Raina and Shikhar Dhawan to bat against wet tennis balls, served by coach Duncan Fletcher or skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni. Then again, Monday's session was much more than merely practice against the tennis ball for a couple of batsmen. It was about the likes of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli getting extended sessions of throwdowns against pace bowlers and against spinners. It was about the team's brains trust keeping an eagle eye on the squad. Monday was about Umesh Yadav and Mohit Sharma bowling full tilt; spinners R Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja turning in long spells against a variety of batsmen; and Bhuvneshwar Kumar getting extra attention from bowling coach B Arun, just in case he had to stand in for the team's leading wicket-taker, Mohammed Shami, who was wrapped in cotton wool all day. Meanwhile, fans of the Indian team were left deeply disappointed on Monday that they could not watch their favourite players train. And for some reason, as they stood beyond the Alan Davidson Gate to catch a glimpse of the players, they carried the impression that the team itself had been responsible for the gates remaining closed. Sources in the team management denied suggestions that the fans, easily the largest contingent that turns up at training sessions of the teams, had been kept out at their behest. "The ICC Cricket World Cup security personnel had advised that it would be better if the team trained behind closed doors," a source said. "We respect the passion of the fans." It transpires that during the Test match here in January and before the Carlton Mid tri-series game that was washed out, some enthusiastic fans lined up behind the barricades and constantly chattered away, some going to the extent of offering tutorials to the players based on comments of experts on television. "There is no doubt that the Indian team draws the most fans to practice sessions. It sometimes gets tough for us to retain a distance between the players and the fans at the nets in thee SCG. You will have noticed that we have not asked for such a session at any of the other grounds," a security personnel said.
