i am not talking about dada, i was pointing out the way you are supporting the protest rallys held and sh*t...

well your above comment makes my earlier point even more valid...

I'm pretty sure even the people in Mumbai would take out a protest march if Sachin was dropped.

And dude, you don't even know what he has done for Kolkata and what he is still doing. He means everything for us. So don't give your comments saying that I don't have good brains or I didn't get good education. You are the one who needs to understand the situation.

And incase you again did not know, all these are candle marches which was similar to the candle march done during moments of sadness, i.e., the march done when soldiers are killed or was done recently for justice for Arushi. There is no burning of posters or breaking of things. It's just a silent march with candles from Victoria Memorial to Eden Gardens. So stop your lame-a*s comments that I support these rallys because these are not rallys genius.

With all due respect to Dada,he should go for reality check.

He is past his prime.

He is good as a mentor, but he wont last for 3 years in IPL.

No offense to Kolkatians

@avi

keep ur temper in control.

u r losing it too often.

theek hai yaar, dada teri zindagi hai, aur hamari bhi, but u need to be realistic.

haan yaar avi Ponting and dada are the greatest players ever...ja ab khush ho ja aur jee le apni zindagi :P

Damn another thing that skipped my mind, today is the 4th ODI, if we can win it it would be historic, only Aus and Eng have defeated SA at home.

True that but if some wise-crack starts commenting that Ganguly is getting raped and stuff when actually he is sitting at home and laughing at the situation KKR owners find themselves in, then I just can't help but comment. And yeah if someone says i'm supporting rallys then I have to reply because it's just an ignorant assumption. One should understand what's really going on and what kind of protest is happening before commenting like that.

lol what has he done for kolkata???? helped few charities like every other celebrity does for publicity

his dad runs the printing of all materials for the local board including tickets etc so thats a very good earning...he himself opened restaurants (food is average) ,plus at one of his restaurants there was a sort of late night callgirl racket caught, that news got blocked really soon due to his contacts...recently he opened a gym cum fitness parlour with that luthra (beautician) so one move avenue for him to earn money...his brother is associated in leather business with jagmohan dalmiya, the previous board president...plus maybe few more things i am missing out here...so please dont project him like father teresa

the only local celebrity who has really done things for kolkata is mithun...

as for these rallies and candle light (inspired by latest movie who killed jessica i guess) is all just pass time..we kolkatan are experts in rallies and causing disruptions to public...

and dont get really high hopes on all this since the public memory is very short lived .if you remember the local rizwan murder case..how many candle light vigils and rallies etc were taken out..and after few months its all vanished from public memory..

Well he comes from a business family and yeah I wasn't talking about restaurants, etc. They are only for profit purpose ofcourse. But he has done quite a lot of charities and aids a lot of people but these can't be caught on camera. What I was mostly referring to is that he has inspired so many people in Calcutta to take up cricket seriously and has been perhaps the biggest inspiration for the people over here. I agree that the candle light marches won't last forever and never said so. But they should definitely not be mixed up and mentioned as protest rallys where posters, etc are burnt and there is all sorts of violence.

see i really respect dada as a cricketer and as a captain...but thats it...

the things i mentioned was to show that he is always ready to cash on his image, and nothing like he is doing something really good...

as for inspiring the kolkatans, yes he did..but thats it...if you go through the records he was granted to setup a cricket academy ,land at low rates by the local govt...and that academy has still not seen the light of the day...atleast arun lal has a very good academy (my nephew is there) where he even takes talented students in for free, plus take them all over india for tours also to play...so atleast he is doing something more

helping a few charites, well that every other tom dick and harry does...but thats it..

and i hate this rallies and procession, since i have had personal experience with someone in a ambulance being stuck up in these sort of rallies...it nearly made a matter of life and death for the person..but sad thing is ,this city everyday has a rally or procession for any stupid reason

Well I have to agree that he has been a good businessman and has cashed in on his value here. But as you said ... you also respect him as a cricketer and a captain and he has been the best cricketer to come out of Bengal and is indeed inspiring many to take up cricket.

Well Manoj Tiwari and Wriddhiman Saha are doing well and Abhishek Jhunjhunwala was very good in last year's IPL as you would remember. Hope to see more of Manoj Tiwari in the future ( no, not the Bhojpuri actor :giggle: )

he inspired so he can keep on playing till he finally kicks the bucket :P ??? does that give him that right???

even the best cricketers retire and move on in life...he has to accept that...and we kolkatans also need to realize that
