AtheK
He should sledge Kohli and Rohit from behind. "Kya rohit bhai abhi tak neend main ho ball nahin dikh raha" "Kohli bhai chauka Maar ke woh chimpanzee jaisa face banao na" Personally though i think its a move that can backfire, he just got into form after going through so much, they should have just let him have fun this IPL, now added pressure and he might just go back to his struggles if he fails few matches as captain. It can work other way around too, let's see. My pick would have been ashwin. Edited March 31, 2021 by AtheK

I would have let him play without any pressure.

And to add to it, it brings no foreseeable gains, he is not going to captain next season, nor is indian captaincy is coming up for grabs anytime soon, so this grooming could have been delayed. It does. Pant is the only guaranteed Indian retain for next year in mega auction. Even Iyer isn't a sure shot. If Pant does well he may continue captaining DC. Plus, he is the most famous and bankable player in the team hence will generate more revenue for franchise like Kohli does for RCB. Other candidates-Dhawan was a failure for SRH and replaced by Sammy halfway.Shaw wasn't a guaranteed starter last year and was dropped for few games.Rahane and Smith won't play all matches.Ashwin will play all matches but his stint with Kings as captain wasn't too good hence ..Pant was a no brainer. Risky decision. He struggled when he was made captain of Delhi Ranji team. I think there was his interview. Or was it some other player? He said captaincy affected his form and he couldn't concentrate. He did take them to finals. Personal form will always fluctuate and he is more experienced now than few years back. Moreover Captains in leagues aren't to be all these days. Most work is done by analysts and coaching staff. All decisions are made collectively. That's why MI are usually on top as their recruiters and coaching staff are top class and always on point. I believe Ponting will have a lot of say in DC strategy as usual.Sent from my SM-E625F using Tapatalk

Black_Hawk
Mitchell Marsh has pulled out of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021. Cricbuzz understands that the all-rounder expressed inability to spend long times inside the bio-secure bubble and informed his decision to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) as well as Sunrisers Hyderabad a few days back. Cricbuzz also learns that SRH have roped in a prominent England batsman, who did well in the just-concluded T20I series against India, as Marsh's replacement. As per the latest IPL bio-security protocols, Marsh would have had to undergo seven-day isolation in addition to living in a restricted ecosystem throughout the 50-day tournament. silentassassin
Y do SRH need another opener. Makes no sense They could have gone after Devon Convoy. They already have Bairstow and Warner. Even Williamson can open.

He played last time cos bhuvi wasn't available. Warner and Rashid are a lock. They need Williamson to anchor in middle. So one of Roy or Bairstow may play.Sent from my SM-E625F using Tapatalk
silentassassin
Warner n Rashid will play. They have a thin middle order. They dropped Williamson and payed the price. I think Roy is replacement, incase someone has an injury.
Black_Hawk
One more withdrawal from IPL: Australia fast bowler Josh Hazlewood has withdrawn from the upcoming 2021 Indian Premier League. The 30-year-old has been a part of different bio-secure bubbles from August 2020 to January this year. With a busy international season coming up, the experienced cricketer wants to give himself "the best chance to be mentally and physically ready". harsh1387
I believe franchises should blacklist such players who opt out at the last minute and screw the planning of franchise. If you don't wanna play inform atleast a month in advance so replacement can be done properly. It's mostly English and Aussie players citing their precious ashes preparation. Anyways, so anyone here playing IPL fantasy league like last time? Sent from my SM-E625F using Tapatalk

This is club cricket, and option for not picking a player is always an option for a Franchisee. The bio bubble is a huge thing, and i can give you in writing if not for BCCI pressure many indian players would have wanted to sit out of it too for this edition. The bio bubble is a huge thing, and i can give you in writing if not for BCCI pressure many indian players would have wanted to sit out of it too for this edition.Injury, or any other serious stuff is a different thing. Saying I can't do bio bubble is fine. Saying I want to play red ball so won't play IPl is fine too. But, players know this beforehand so they should inform the franchise in advance so they can look for replacement in time. Not a week before the tournament start. Now franchise has to look for the new player, then said player will have to fly to India, then he has to do mandatory quarantine of 1 week as well so he may miss a few games. That's my point. Of course bio bubble is hard and players need to get out of it at times. As for Indian players no one will miss IPL cos of the huge amount they get. Do we believe Kohli will skip IPL and miss on his 17 crore for 14 games? Never. IPL is cash cow for Indian players. That's why everyone is magically fit for IPL but injured for national team. Plus IPL performances determine national selection for juniors and new comers as well. Also the boosting rights. The truth is Hazelwood was getting only 2 crore. If he was getting something like Cummins he will not miss IPL for anything. Most Aussie fans were expecting Steve Smith to do the same but he may play due to his reputation and due to the fact playing this edition will fetch him good payment in next mega auction. At the end money always talks.Sent from my SM-E625F using Tapatalk
AtheK
Ya so his wish, it's not his country, franchisees have to be ready for all this, hence they get so many players and not 15. I don't buy a single of your argument, club cricket would always be like that. No one going to be blacklisted, but what he did everyone will notice, so they take a call next year to bid or not, no one has put a gun on any franchisee head. That said CSK hardly played him last season, don't think he would have been a part of there plan anyway. You are reading too much into all this and getting over emotional. Yup money talks he is not getting paid enough he doesn't wanna come simple, all overseas player are in IPL for money and not to impress anyone, they are already pretty much a fixture in there national teams. Just saying how I see it and it hardly matters to me who plays and not.. You do have a point though.I hope one of DC, RCB or meme kings Punjab win this time. Someone new should be there instead of MI as usual.Sent from my SM-E625F using Tapatalk
